Canada: School board allows Muslim sermons in schools

.
I wonder why some posters here so concerned about Canada? Why can't you mind your own business punks?

Here its only for Muslim kids , Hope you agree with me more or lee Canada is best west country for muslims , and such things which discriminate kids on religious lines will hurt the feel of secularism :)

and just FYI there are no sermons in Hinduism not sure about Christians ... celebrating a festival is a diff thing then doing something weekly .....
This is from the posted link :

Several police officers attended the meeting after some Muslim students noted they had been the target of hate speech as the discussion about their Friday prayers got more attention.

Protesters appeared carrying signs with anti-Islamic messages, which board trustees told them to put away. Two police officers took a woman outside after she began a racially-charged outburst.

The sentiments are "hurtful and hateful," Alam said after the meeting. "It's definitely concerning, especially for the students who are still in school right now."

Mississauga is generally an up-scale area, many of the wealthiest Muslim families live there. Toronto schools have mostly allowed Friday sermons before, but they've always been written with staff oversight. But some people in the Peel board wanted to limit the sermons to 6-7 pre-written ones. But in the end, the Peel board is just continuing with the old policy (of letting the students write them, but with staff oversight).

Did you study in a Toronto high school? I did (four years) and I know from certainty that the sermons (which are part of Friday prayer, which occurs mid-day) were written with staff oversight. And I also know, from 100% certainty, that the rules were open to Christians and others just as much to Muslims. The Peel controversy came from the board trying to impose an added condition of only allowing pre-written sermons, which didn't make sense since the sermons were already being written with staff oversight. All the issue did was needlessly bring the spotlight on Muslim kids.

Actually if you are asking me personally .. let me give you one incident... daughter of my neighbor came from school and asked her mom are we not humans as my desk mate say those who dont read kuran are not humans and they decided to move to oak-vill from new session . It might be an isolated incident but impacts the psyche of non muslim kids . No i never studied in high school in Canada but my kids will hopefully , if thats the situation then like my neigbors I have to go to some other locality where atleast schools are not biased on religious grounds .

If we want to cite personal incidents, then I can cite 13 involving people I know in the last 2 years who've had their kids bullied for being Muslim, including a boy who was beaten into hospitalization.

You should examine this issue by actually studying the sermons these kids are writing (with staff oversight - I repeat) before making general statements (and over-amplifying the so-called Muslim threat) about these issues, especially those that affect kids, families and communities you have little-to-no-idea about.

Thats exactly what I am saying ...if a kids is being bullied due to his religion without any separation between kids ..then what will happen if they wide the divide which may or may not exists . Thats my exact point is , those kids who are bullied how they will react when they will see a chance to extract vengeance , instead of preaching equality they are trying to separate the kids , hope ....this special treatment will lead to situation like France and
