Canada bans face veils for new citizens

I guess this should be OK with most people. I mean who knows who is taking the oath if the face is covered.

I think there are situations in which one must show her/his face like for Identity documents, Security check-ups and there are places/offices/gatherings where it is a good idea not to cover the face. Other than that every person should be free to do whatever she/he likes with their clothes.

Having said that I have rarely seen a burqa in Ontario, most ladies ( Muslim women) have their head covered though. I think they look dignified and beautiful. I don't know about religions, but in my view a Burqa is an excess in whichever sense one might think. Head Scarf is perfectly fine and having your face visible in a country like Canada should not put a woman in any kind of difficulty under normal circumstances. It also improves inter-personal communication while the burqa can bring a wide variety of thoughts in the mind of others sharing space with the burqa clad lady.

It totally is OK. There's no law, rules, regulations, religion against all women in Canada. She has options to wear, talk and do what she wants in public unlike some countries.

Talking about respect for respect. Hey Mr. Torpedo, you're power tripping and bad mouthing. What did you have for dinner lastnight? Apparently, not your plate of meal. Who says women are forced to wear a burqa? Which part of what I said has anything to do with forcing women to wear a burqa? Apparently, you can't decode what I said. You are living in a country that give you the rights to say and do almost whatever you want, and they can also take away those rights if abused. In Canada, the law is above all. If you don't like the Canadian's policies, rules and regulations, go back to Pakistan. It's called paying respect when taking a Canadian citizenship oath by taking your hats off. Have some goddamn manners, Mr. Torpedo. :disagree:

dont teach me respect, ik who to respect and who to disrespect, all i said was that if u dont know facts then you got no right to make up stupid stories, do u even know anything about Islam? learn before u post crap.

Nikab or face veils should be outlawed for security reasons. First of all, there is no requirement in Islam for Face veils ( Nikabs ). Most Muslim women wear a Hijab ( head scarf ) that leaves face uncovered. Nikab are more of a tribal tradition and not an Islamic requirement. A very minute percentage of women wear Nikab ( probably 1%). If Nikab was a religious requirement, I would have seen women in nikab at Khana Kaaba when I went for Hajj. The only requirement at Kaaba for women's Ahram is a head scarf ( Hijab ) covering the hair and only hands showing.

I think you will be banned for cursing ISLAM. Please don't curse people's religion at PDF or you are not welcome here.

the ban is only while taking oath...during the ceremony...which is ok...
its not a perma ban or silly french ban.

You can tell by the deliberately false and misleading title that it is intended as a troll thread.

Best to avoid it and let the losers wallow in their hatred.

Actually thats what the title was on the website, didn't change a word.

When i see a burqa worn girl in middle of pack of modern girls who shape their life themselves and have all the fun in their life as they wish,i feel pity for them...they look so afraid,tamed...kinda like slaves who are veiled by their masters and collared..

this 15th century practice is becoming funny....This practice had no logic and is a great wall against women empowerment and stop them from achieving their desired goal...

And i know a muslim girl, she never wear burqa, just pant and shirts,Now she is a Graduate in CS and is going to do her masters in Computer science...
i Must say this girl is lucky and has all the fun she wants in her life than all other burqa covered girl out there

I know a alot of girls who wear burqua on there own will and are done doing Masters, so drop the crap

lol there is nothing wrong with that i guess.... coool

We have a right-wing hardcore zionist Conservative govnt in place that is hell bent on restricting muslims freedoms in Canada. Recently they took away funding from Multiculture programs designed for Arabs n then banned George Galloway from entering Canada, n now this......

George Galloway supports the Palestinians which the current Canadian government doesn't like. Besides the security issue, there's also the safety issue as well. I wouldn't want people driving while wearing face veils.

How do you take an oath with a burqa on? It should not have been allowed in the first place. I hear Quebec is going to ban burqa from public places, which is indeed great news. I see burqa clad women in public sometimes and its truly a scary situation. Who knows who is under that veil. It needs to be banned for security reasons.

I just wanted to correct some points here, Veil is not allowed during Hajj, and yes I agree Veil or Niqaab is not Farz (Compulsory)

Well, I have seen both sides - women who choose to wear the burqa, and the ones who were forced to. Unfortunately, the latter was more prevalent.

The Canadians are right in enforcing this rule. It is their country, and they will set rules on how people should live and present themselves. Doesn't Saudi Arabia force women to cover themselves even though they are not Muslims?
Wrong. Saudi Arabia is an Islamic Republic whilst canada is a secular democracy. In canada women have the right to wear as long as they cover their pubes, they can walk aroung topless legally under the Public Decency laws protected by the charter of rights n freedom.

To simply put it, canadian laws state that the government has NO right to tell people what to wear n how much to wear. It's just this Nazi conservative gov hostile to the minorities anti-immigration especially targeting the Arab n muslim communities cuz its funded by the zionist lobby.

Even the Indians here dont vote the conservatives.

Saudia doesnt have those laws. Canadian laws dont interfere in private affairs of its citizens.

Women can show their faces when required by the state. But can anyone tell me why a piece of garment has suddenly become threat to the canadian Govn't?

well niqaab has always been a part of Islam culture and it is mandated by half of the schools of thoughts, in both sunni n shia traditions. To say niqaab has no place in islam is dishonesty to its teachings n culture.

Theres a HUGE difference btwn a burqa n niqaab. Only a few hundred women wear the niqaab in all of canada.
Women can show their faces when required. Whats the problem?
