If by super power you mean something akin to U.S of 1990's and early 2000's...then no, even China might never be able to achieve that. World is moving towards having multiple poles of power.

In next 30-40 years, possibly we will see a China with economy equal to whole of Europe continent and whole of America continent combined, I.e. roughly 40% of world GDP. The US, or any other country ever in the world (except Mongolian empire and British empire), has never achieved that. Unipolar or multipolar, we will see.

It is very likely, once China reaches the level of 2/3 GDP per capita of its peers in Singapore, Hong Kong or Macao.

Honest answer is NO , turkey can not become Super power in 30 years .. because there are 2 more countries in line China and Russia even if consider the possibility of USA getting down as a Super Power ..that there are UK , France, Germany and India ..turkey can become a very strong country but they have a long journey to complete and Muslims were once Super Power not as separate independent states but when we were united under only One flag of Islam .. wait for that time to come,Allah and Prophet promised that to us so i have faith it will happen but only in due time ..world's destiny is written the day will come Inshallah when we will rule the World again ..

China is Drifting faster than we think , but still they accept that they can not beat USA ...but by 2050 China will be something more than we expect .. Chinese can surprise the world and so does Russian

I don't think China has the strong will to be a super power, China lack of a key factor, language and culture. China has a unique language and culture which is a challengable barrier for other parts of the world, especially English already solid its position globally in science, technology, business etc. in modern world, it's nearly impossible to replace it with other languages. China can be a super power of economy, but world wide super power, NO.

Are you sure USSR economy was number two ?
Yep

But now working together with Russia wich reperesents Assads interests, Erdogan is even ok with SAA taking lands from YPG, lets not fool ourselves, the plan for Syria didnt go as planned.

We must think much deeper than of which you said. I don't like this thread to become a Syrian war thread, we already have one.
But I must just mention, Turkey do not support SAA or YPG, we only suppport some brigades within FSA. We accomplished great things as creating a buffer zone between ISIS and us. So we have no more ISIS within our borders.
Making allies with Russia doesn't mean we are supporting SAA. We are allies in terms of economies, investments, military deals, tourism and the list goes on. To achieve all this of course we need sacrifice certain agendas but not everything, far from everything.

Let's not debate this issue any longer in this thread. If you like to reply to this message please do it in Euphrates Shield Operation thread.

wait who deleted my post?

We cant even remove pkk as a neighbour, we made pkk become next door to us directly with the help of erdogan and we want to talk about superpower, its impossible. Only when we get back to our great Oguz Khan's laws and values we shall become strong again. Tengri will always be with us and we will win.

Once we get back to our roots we will be strong.

My honest opinion on this matter:

The Republic of Turkey is decades away from becoming a "superpower". To be fair, Turkey simply does not have the natural, human, financial, economical, military and diplomatic resources, assets and capabilities to achieve such a goal.

Bear in mind that even nations like Japan, China, Germany, India, France or Russia are currently not considered as superpowers. Having said that, only China has arguably a realistic perspective to achieve this status even though it has several obstacles that need to be cleared in order to become a second global superpower after the US.

Hence, Turkey is a classic middle power state. What people are often mixing up is the fact that among this group of middle power states, Turkey often sticks out of the mass through a set of specific characteristics. However, this does not mean that we will be a superpower in the future.

Located at the cross-roads of Asia, Europe and Africa this region provides the perfect location to benefit from international trade and cooperation. We are strong enough to defend our country from every enemy and at the same time due to our location, market, military, history, society etc. every potential and actual superpower and every alternative and competing nation on this planet is willing to support us if we get in serious trouble. This is our biggest advantage over every other middle power on this planet. Even a nation like China would change its policy towards Turkey in a heartbeat if we are ready to accept its offer. This is a very unique situation.

In summary, there is no possibility that Turkey can develop the capabilities to become a superpower. But it is also true that Turkey's position among the group of middle powers is kind of unique.

From a regional perspective though, my evaluation changes radically. In the long run, no nation in the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe is able to keep pace with Turkey - not even Iran. Why? When it comes to common identity, ethnic issues and identity markers the Turkish society is approx. 100 years ahead of Iran - thanks to Atatürk.

hopefully turkey uses their new supapowa status to destroy the fartsis

Turkey can become a great power on its own.

Turkey can become a superpower if they can unite some other countries behind them, such as the Turkic nations of Central Asia plus several other Muslim states.

China is not and will never become a superpower. You will never be able to convince a Chinese person that his tax money should be spent on policing the world. China's focus will always be inwards.

The majority of Turks doesn't want to join EU any longer. Polls reveal that around 68% doesn't want to join EU, 23% is in favor of joining EU and there are around 9% that are in doubt.

60% of the questionnaires think that the reason why EU has double standards towards Turkey is because Turks are Muslim.

My personal opinion is also No to EU. Turkey can accomplish more like it's doing now, leaning towards Asia and the growing countries of Asia, and by restoring peace and stability in Middle East.
Valid point as EU is exclusively a Christian Union and Turkey being predominantly Muslim will never be accepted, otherwise today Turkey would have long joined the EU. Nations such as Blugeria and Romania which surly are not as economically strong as Turkey were still favoured to be accepted in the EU. Makes complete sense for Turkey to make strong alliances with the East and African continent. More then ever Pakistan and Turkey are working together in various fields.

Turkey also has an estimated 3million + strong diaspora across Europe who are very patriotic towards their ancestral homeland Turkey.

Thank you for your analysis. This was exactly my point. I see Turkey as the pioneer to have the ability to unite Turkic and some Muslim nations. That's the reason why I made this poll.

As I see around 90% of the people who commented here didn't even read my thread post. Nobody is asking if Turkey on its own can become a super power in the future. I made it very clear that with unitions it may be possible.

Thank you Cinese-dragon for understanding this thread and poll.

Germany has nothing against Turkey in military terms. Other than that i agree

Another deluded low iq example . He thinks having 600,000 soldiers and you become powerful, like in trench warfare. Such people dont have the capacity to understand world affairs, defence or politics properly.
Hes thinking .
We have 600,000 soldiers Germany has 80k.
We have 240 f-16 Germany has 80 EF2000(not sure exact number)

If there is a war tomorrow and Germany diverts its industrial capability to military equipment they can easily build thousands of tanks, fighters everything meanwhile once our stock of tanks are finished we cant make new ones because we cant make an engine yet.

Germany has the capability to make nearly every equipment, their industrial capability is huge, if war erupts any country with alot of manpower can mobilize thousands if not millions depending on the situation, but not every country can make military equipment. Other than USA, UK, France, China, Russia, Germany(not sure on Italy, Spain's exact capabilities in producing arms but they are quite advanced in most areas too)there isnt many other countries that can make most of their equipment needs. Yes South Korea, Israel, Turkey, Iran can make some stuff but they still lack in many areas without having to purchase from abroad.

People think because some countries have small armies they are weak, the fact is they have small armies because their surrounding is safe and their not stupid to spend too much.

As central asians we have fighting spirit in our dna's we have probably the greatest warriors ever, every land we have been too we dominated somehow but this age is technology age and one bomb can destroy cities.

Are the Turks out of their freaking mind? What on earth do they think they can become a super power? Is Turkey gonna be like USA? Russia or even China? Did the super power dream originating from India infected the Turks here?
Forget about that nonsense, same applies to Indians.
Did you even read this thread?
