I don't know if they are rich enough for our CRH6, only 200km/h, but ideal for intercity railway.
Maintenance is a big problem for them, that's why China is helping India to found a railway university.
And general Indians shouldn't think about 200km/h EMUs like their old locomotives.

Now, in terms of track additions, most of the tracks were already laid down before independence. Independent India under Kangress added only around 20000km of track, as compared to the 50000km of track the Britishers laid down.

I agree that privatization will solve a lot of the problems facing the Indian Railways. Do you have any information on the privatization plan and when it will be executed?

If our system sucks we should try to get the most reliable help we can get, not the first/ cheapest. Do you even know what your locomotives did there? From what I hear your wheels didn't even fit the tracks man. And most of them broke down in the 1st 6 months.

German rail company mulling purchase of Chinese trains

"In three to five years, Asia and especially China will be able to attain a key function in the purchase of trains and replacement parts for Deutsche Bahn," Heike Hanagarth, chief technology officer, told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

"The fact is that today the Chinese producers are already supplying well-known clients in the United States, for example," she said.

Deutsche Bahn is planning to open a purchasing office in Beijing in the autumn to cooperate with the two Chinese companies, she added.

I'm sure replacing Indian locos with unreliable Chinese locos is the solution? Did you even read what I wrote- the wheels didn't fit the tracks.
And if you wanna flood pics of 'mother china great railway', we can do that too. WHile our mainlines are awaiting overhauls, places where we have brought in private players are doing just fine.

We've been working with the Europeans and it's worked out really well. High quality products that build here for our markets and also export. This is the kind of partnership that our rail system needs. Highly reliable and efficient and business-like- not mother china is great railway system ego tirp.
