No. You can't just divert millions of cusecs of water suddenly one fine day. You need to construct colossal underground pipes over thousands of miles which might take at least a decade !

And that is why Summer needs to come, and huge water storage capabilities needs to be constructed

Its a trilateral treaty which has international guarantees from the World Bank. Neither India nor Pakistan can withdraw from this treaty unilaterally.
Wrong India doesn't need to completely halt water, as it will violate the treaty, however India can reduce the flow of water tremendously, showing that the water is used for India's own purpose, which doesn't violate the treaty :)

MY DEAR BROTHERS,
LET ME ENLIGHTEN FROM BANGLADESH'S EXPERIENCE,
VIOLATING ALL INTERNATIONAL NORMS/RULES,INDIA HAS CONSTRUCTED DAMS/RESERVOIRS IN ALL THE 54 INTERNATIONAL COMMON RIVERS.

AS A RESULT WE ARE NOW FACING ACUTE SHORTAGE OF WATER IN THE DRY SEASONS,THUS LEAVING US NO OPTIONS BUT TO OBTAIN WATER FROM UNDERGROUND RESERVOIRS,BY SINKING DEEP TUBE WELLS WHICH IN TURN IS DROPPING THE UNDERGROUND WATER LEVEL AT AN ALARMING RATE,

IF THIS GOES ON ,ONLY ALMIGHTY KNOWS WHEN A LARGE SINK HOLE APPEARS AND SUCKS US INWARDS.

MOREOVER DUE TO LOW VOLUME OF WATER FLOW SILTATION IN THE RIVERS IS AUTOMATIC,MAKING THEM UNNAVIGABLE. ONCE KNOWN AS THE THE MIGHTY BRAHMAPUTRA IS NOW DEAD,THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF SUCH DEAD RIVERS NOW ,AND THE WATER FROM THE OCEANS ARE FILLING THE VACUUM THUS TURNING THE LANDS SALINITY, WHERE CROPS CANT GROW. AN DESERT LIKE LANDSCAPE APPEARS IN THE WINTER..

MOREOVER,DURING THE PEAK MONSOON PERIOD, WITH MELTING ICE, ACCOMPANIED WITH HEAVY RAINS IN THE UPSTREAM. THE INDIANS DISCRETELY OPEN AL THE GATES OF THE DAMS,RESULTING IN HORRIFIC FLOODS AND LOSS OF LIVES,DESTROYED CROPS FIELDS, LEAVING A DEVASTATING NEGATIVE IMPACT ON OUR THE ECONOMY.

YOU REALLY SHOULD LEARN FROM US A LOT IN THESE MATTERS.

How would India "Block" the water exactly?

India can easily divert the flow of water

.
Anyway chill guys.....India won't do anything of that sort unless its a full blown war or situation worsen beyond improvement.....

.
Don't worry , we can drop and single bomb on these sites and restore the water flow and million of dollars of India will be lost on these installations.

A Muslim should fight back when its time to do so.

.
From Kashmir no i see them using dams in Afghanistan to do same

.
They can but that will be against Treaty signed , which can make UN intervene and sanction India , Plus India can't hold water for long time as they have to release at one point causing floods , which occur each year cause our Govt havent built any new dams in last 30 years
What will do is significantly slow down the water flow towards pakistan in the season when u needed and will not block permanently. This why treat get saved and we achieve our objectives as well.

It is all about capabilities, intention can change over the night.
We didn't started thinking abt it before those wars. This time it is going to get different

Things change...talks about abrogation of IWT is rather a new development. For the first time we are watching India wide debate on this but still things are under control and I don't see any changes in near future.

.
If India does in fact block or divert the water, what will Pakistan do? We can't wage a war.
