Ignore the nay Sayers, you will be pleasantly surprised if you visit Pakistan, the people are warm and friendly, more curious than angry at India( and Indians or maybe they were being polite)I have a desire to visit Pakistan. Primarily for the food and architecture in Lahore and the Northern Areas region for the mountains and lakes. Is that possible ? easy or difficult ? How does it work ? Any information would be helpful.
I have a Pakistani friend in Saudi. She lives and works there but is a Pakistani citizen and keeps visiting Multan every now and then. Can that help in any way ?
The best way I would recommend is to travel by the samjhota exp. That train serves as a symbolic link between our two nations and is very budget friendly. Pakistanis are not as dependant on trains for internal travel as we are, so inquire about road transport well in advance. Their road infrastructure is better than ours ( atleast between all the major cities between Punjab and Sindh)
In Karachi you would need a localite and a local vehicle to traverse and truly enjoy the sights. Karachi is huge(imagine Mumbai with the intercity traffic and no dominant local train setup).
Inquire about staying recommendations or if you are lucky enough stay at a relative/friend's place. Pakistanis take 'mehman nawazi' seriously.
Hope you have an enjoyable trip.
