ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik has turned up as one man in the visit of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to the US, who has changed Washington's opinion towards Pakistan in the so-called war on terrorism.
Malik admirably assisted the prime minister during his interaction with various leaders particularly US President George W Bush, who as a special reference to Malik gave him a pat on the back for his role in this war on terror.
Well-placed diplomatic sources told The News that Rehman Malik briefed his interlocutors about the role India has been playing in Afghanistan by actively assisting some rogue elements to malign Pakistan.
US authorities were impressed that the evidence, which was produced by the Pak head of Interior Ministry, brought certain facts, which were hidden erstwhile, to the fore. Rehman Malik has informed American authorities that Indians are fully involved in tribal areas in Pakistan and were providing all sorts of assistance to those militants who are targeting Nato forces and Pakistani troops simultaneously.
He clarified Pak armed forces position and told the US authorities that ISI is fighting against terrorism like any other peace-loving force. He asked Americans not to be influenced by Indian malicious campaign against Pakistani institutions.
