So instead of building special routes like metro these clowns imported these busses from China and started running them on the same old roads that are heavily traffic congested and are also broken

Not to forget no proper ticketing system or special bus stops

Only fools would be happy with this drama that is going to run only for few months

Welcome to the 20th century Karachi!

Anyone has any idea how the ticketing is done for these? Only cash payment when you board or is there a monthly card or anything as well?

And why the heck can't Hino or anyone else make buses? How hard can it actually be to indegenize city buses?

.
Wow. 240 buses in one fell swoop is a large addition to the service pool. Are these EV buses? (Image says that it is Diesel hybrid). Are they assembled or manufactured in Pakistan? Big demand gives the option for buyer to put assembly lines if more cities are expected to place orders

کراچی والے خوشی سے ناچ رہے ہیں، ان کا ٹرانسپورٹ کا مسئلہ حل ہو گیا ہے۔

. .
How can they launch it, routes are not even ready yet? Its a paper launch for optics, there is still alot of work left.

This is the state of previously launched project in roughly mid 2000s. Abandoned to ruins in just less than a decade

The buses in question are lying stationary at a terminal especially constructed for the purpose at Surjani Town. A visit to the terminal was a revelation in itself - 73 state-of-the-art CNG buses, their art now rusting away, stand at the compound beyond the open gates. 'Stand' is an overstatement as most do not have tyres. Others are missing their batteries or auto-parts, making them incapable of plying the roads. The only sign of life at the compound, apart from the lone employee, are the stray dogs who have found a home inside the buses.

The army of dogs and the lone KMC employee stationed at the compound are, however, not enough to scare away opportunists, who view the open gates as an invitation to take away the buses' parts and sell them on the black market.

When approached by The Express Tribune, the KMC employee stationed at the compound, Abdul Ghafoor, expressed helplessness as he looked at the sorry state of the vehicles. "Most of these vehicles are not standing on their tyres while their batteries have also been stolen by the residents of nearby areas," he said, stating the obvious. "I am the only employee stationed here while there are three to four security guards at night." These personnel are, however, not enough to guard the whole compound, he explained.

The Green Bus service was initiated in 2005, by the then-mayor of Karachi, Niamatullah Khan. The service operated till 2007 after which it was suspended for some time. In 2009, Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad, resumed the service but it was terminated once again on April 23, 2013.

240 buses are for Sindh.

Only 130 for Karachi, that's basically nothing for a city of 25 million population. It's a PR campaign. These buses will disappear like Green Buses, most of these buses will be sold to private companies, some will be disassembled and their parts will be sold.

PPP/PMLN/MQM are termites for Pakistan. Only reason these corrupt dynastic/feudalistic parties exists because of backing by establishment. Both scratch each other backs. If scratching doesn't work, blackmailing starts.

I don't know about a revolution taking place in Pakistan.. I do know that Karachi will erupt soon.

A news report on Karachi’s public transport highlighted the CNG bus project (consisting of 75 buses) which was started by Mustafa Kamal and how only 25 of them are functioning while the remaining 50 are useless. But what this report failed to mention was the buses that were previously inaugurated by Naimatullah Khan, including 32 buses of the Sweden Bus Company, 28 of the Green Bus Company and several others which are not in use.
The problem is that because these buses have not been used for quite a few years their condition has deteriorated. Therefore, the investment made on them was completely wasted. It is about time that this serious issue was brought to the attention of the government since the majority of our population depends on public transport daily. So, we just cannot afford such losses. With the population of Karachi increasing, people need more buses. Karachi is a large city and in dire need of an excellent transport system but due to interference from the powerful transport mafia most buses are rotting on the stands. The government needs to look into the problem and resolve it.
