Burning of Koran is CANCELLED

Right on paper is no good if you can not use it. If a community feels that it is being vilified and threatened, just because of their religion, that right becomes a moot point.
Since muslims love to associate themselves with the victimhood of blacks in America, they should build this mosque themselves with their own labor and money. Surely with all the technical expertise from the ME it would be a breeze, no? If anything happens, the might of the US government will be in their favor. So no...That right is not moot at all.

yeah I heard he is offering 25% over the purchase price.

he is a shrewd businessman, he knows that promoters would have bought it at a lower price and even with the 25% premium he would still make $ when the economy recovers and prices improve.

I dont think he gives a rats's *** about anything else.

That and all in cash. So he has a good chance at this. With this much media/political attention on the place he probably thought it would be a good buy.

The tone in your post proves my point ;)

Obviously If am I am the Imam I am not going to go ahead with the project if members of my community would be put in the harm's way.

That is the power of hate speech unfortunately. US govt. would not be everywhere to protect each and every Muslim or anyone from subcontinent who "looks" Muslim.

They may be a small minority, but even at 5% that's a ton of people. I agree it is "desperate", but , Hey!, human beings do and believe all sorts of desperate, unreasonable and illogical things. And human beings sometimes even "cut off their nose to spite their face". So, Egads!, Americans are human after all! And, sometimes, believe in seemingly irrational things. Probably, they are blinded by anger.......

9% of Americans having a hate trip on Islam is a ton of people too. (the ones that said they would not want a Mosque anywhere in their country)

Tomorrow, US Muslims or US Jews will "ask" Hindus or some other group or religious minority and where will it end, to build elsewhere, backed up with polls - TS, Whatever happened to your position about right wrong, good and bad, how have you come to abandon reason in favor of emotion?

For me personally: (1) I do not trust that the people who are sponsoring this mosque are being honest about their intentions and the sources of the $ 100M. And (2) I see it as a sort of a test of them. If they were sincere in their stated mission of "Cordoba", they would magnanimously work with NY State officials on another site, maybe even find a location more prominent and beautiful. And, thereby, demonstrate they can internalize the pain that some devout muslims caused on 9-11, even as they disown them.

So Muslims should expect that every mosque proposal in US would have to undergo such scrutiny about finances and what not?

Imam Rauf had said yesterday that HAD he known of such an uproar about the location he wouldnt have chosen this location at all. But, moving the location of proposed center now would mean giving in to the extremists element and thereby accepting their logic that Islam somehow was involved with the 9/11 tragedy.

I dont think I can make you understand that point.

How far should a mosque be from Ground Zero to not be called Victory Mosque? 2 blocks 8 blocks ... and who will certify "now this mosque is not victory mosque". Its a shame.. peoples emotions are being exploited by right-wing.

Extremist Islamists with Warped Ideologies. Not Devout Muslims. Poor choice of words. They don't even consider us Muslims you know that right ? Unless you impose and live under Shaia Law your not Muslim this is what Al-Qaeda thinks. They are also against all Jews. So Devout Muslims is not even close.

SWorry TS, but no one died and said you or any other American can tell other Americans what they can do with their private property and no one has given you or any other American any right that has been denied to other Americans - that kind of attitude is unworthy.

You are angry after 9 years, great then some one else will claim that he or she has been angry since 1947, 54, 67 and on and on - Again, we will be stuck trying to figure out whose anger is more justified, it's a net loser.

Like I said ot Gambit, you don't have to like it, you don't even have to like Islam or Muslims -- but for your own sake, you should consider the slippery slope of the argument you are using as bedrock - it's not rock, it's ether, it's a feeling, an emotion, subject to change and pass like so much wind -- and look at what you choose to abandon, principle and reason -- It's entirely OK to not like it, but at least be honest with yourself and don't abandon principle and reason - you're angry, who the heck are these people with accents and they are not Christians and Christians have not just waged war against them historically, but also crusades, and....and...they smell none to good either --- fine, but to take a non-issue, wherein no laws were broken, the building is on private property and the freedom of religion is a guarantee -- and to turn into a national issue, to make the nation a laughing stock of the world, to show the world that the US talks the talk but can't walk the walk, to mock the sacrifices of men and women of the armed forces who sacrifice their lives to secure freedoms for others which stand denied in the US on the basis of emotion? of polls?

It's an unworthy position - you can channel your anger in more productive venues.

well then be a good boy..get some guts.. go to your nearest tv station and publicly tell the Americans to get lost.. we dont need your help.. go on now..
put some actions to your words.

they already knw it, that People Hate them..thats why they working hard to won our hearts

Speaking of 'slippery slope'...

The Burger King logo is there in Arabic. “Allah” is spelled exactly how it is there, and the Burger King logo is where the ominah should be. Why, there is no way it could be a coincidence. How can you say it is a spinning swirl? How does it spin on something that is static? You cannot spin it around unless you have a mechanical device. You spin it one direction, to the right, and it is offending a billion people.

Even though it means nothing to some people and may mean nothing to some Muslims in this country, this is my jihad. I'm not going to rest until I find the person who is responsible. I'm going to bring this country down.
So the guy imagined something offensive to Islam in a Burger King ice cream cone......and swore himself to a jihad against the 'author' of that offense.

This sensitivity issue is only a mask people are using. It doesn't take much to understand it holds no value. Then the reality starts to sink in.

And that man is crazy. Just like the Pastor/Attention whore in Florida. Get a clue man. If your trying to apply this mans burger king Jihad to justify your anti Islam views go on ahead.

I on the other hand will hold no views towards Christianity because of a crazy pastor.

Deep indeed gambit - are you on a similar mechanical device?

And many otherwise well meaning persons seem to have become caught, trapped in the web of this position based on emotion -- "THEY" will WIN" -- it's almost as if "they" were not American, did not have the same rights as others --- Oh, wait, that's the point isn't it - to somehow change Al-Qaida attacked the US on 9/11 to Islam and US muslims attacked America on 9/11 -- When I think of all the Muslims who served in the US armed forces, I feel very ashamed for them - for them, it was always special, for them, it was always, "kill me before they get to me, don't let my wife and children see me being beheaded on the internet" - only to have so many Gambits around as as to make it all shameful, dirty.

What these American Islamracists and bigots are actually saying is that a Muslim life is less significant than an American life (not to mention that the don't regard the Muslims who died in the Twin Towers as Americans), they totally ignore the hundred of Muslims who perished at 9-11.
