The incident occurred on Thursday around 3:30am

A Bangladeshi man was killed by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) at Shingnagar border of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj around 3:30am on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Manarul Islam, 30.

Local Union Parishad (UP) member Habibur Rahman confirmed the incident.

Locals said Manarul — along with 10-12 people — had entered India through Shingnagar border to Harun garden to get some cows.

Indian BSF members opened fire at them, killing Manarul on the spot.

Later, his associates brought his body back to Bangladesh.

Even though several phone calls were made, Bangladesh Border Guards Bangladesh's 53rd Battalion Commander Sazzad Sarowar was unavailable for comment.

Cows are available but Indian cows are in demand in Bangladesh otherwise beef price will not go down. Beef is very expensive in Bangladesh because of Indian restriction on cow trade. 1 kg is 550 taka which is very expensive for middle class people. Once in a while they now eat beef but at one time every week there was beef in Bangladeshi households. Even Hindu Bangladeshis sometime eat beef. Beef potato curry is a very popular Bangladeshi cuisine.

I was thinking the same, while watching a few YT videos from food vloggers. Only one or two pieces of beef per plate, that too at a very high cost, people here in NE would rather eat other meats like pork or mutton rather than settling for such miserly amounts of serving.

Beef is even cheaper in Pakistan then in bangaldesh.

Bangladeshi eats fish regularly but beef is more popular than fish. Commonly consumed fish is Rohu fish. Mutton is not popular at all in Bangladesh. Mostly Hindu Bangladeshis eat Mutton. Bangladeshis find a weird smell in mutton which put them off from mutton. Bangladeshis eat beef as if there's no other food if given an opportunity.

Bangladeshis of Chittagong district eat beef as staple food even at high price. They can not live without beef.

Beef kala bhuna and Mezbani beef.. Traditional and most tasty food of Chittagong ,Bangladesh .

Buffalo meat is not available and also people dislike buffalo meat. In 2 months time at least 10 million cows will be slaughtered in Bangladesh on occasion of Eid ul Adha which in Bangladesh called 'Korbanir Eid'. Be ready for lakhs of Indian cow smuggling during that time.
Buffalo is rarely slaughtered during Eid festival. Few buffalos those are slaughtered are imported from India.

International borders and patrols are there for a reason, don't jump fence if you want to avoid getting shot. You are siding with the criminals and smugglers here.

Don't forget that it is the same Hindu government in India that implemented the historic Land Boundary Agreement signed between Indira and Mujeeb in 1974, our government was sitting on their lazy rears untill now.

Border disputes have been solved, enclaves exchanged between the two countries, infact your country got more land from India than we received from you. You call this hateful mindset?

All we ask of you in return is stop the smuggling and trafficking from your side, and if you fail to do so we will take things into our own hands.
