ISLAMABAD: A police officer says a 70-year-old British man has died of kidney failure in Pakistan following his arrest for suspected arson.
Fazlur Rehman, the investigating officer, says the man was arrested earlier this month in the northwestern city of Abbottabad for allegedly setting fire to the room in his guesthouse.
Rehman says the man fell sick in prison and was shifted to a hospital, where he died Monday.
The British Embassy in Islamabad confirmed that a British national died in police custody but declined to provide further details because officials were trying to contact next of kin. AP
