British Bangladeshis are doing astonishingly well at school

Rate of education in Sylhet was not tops in Bangladesh in any case, that prize always went to Western Bangladesh as well as Comilla/Barisal a and Bikrampur/Munshiganj areas.
Rate of education and industrialization in Sylhet still is on lower side. But, poverty among Sylhetis are rare. We're getting flooded by non Sylhetis from those areas you have mentioned bhai!
But this is back-dated narrow regionalism
Bhai, our regionalism is the main reason Sylhet is a haven compared to any other division of Bangladesh. I would like to claim (without any data) we Sylhetis contribute more in Bangladesh per capita wise than anyone else. No offense intended bhai.

It’s not nationalism rather regional pride.

You see the same between the US states.

Regional pride is a healthy thing and helps propel the region.

Otherwise they just become too dependent on central government.

Sylhetis are fiercely independent and neither BNP nor BAL has a grip. No Sylheti will ever put the interest of sylhet above BAL or BNP interests.

We saw that with Saifur Rahman, Muhith, Kibria et al
