British special forces destroyed an Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) suicide truck near the city of Misrata in Libya this month, according to reports.
Local militia figures, with whom the special forces unit is thought to be embedded, claim to have witnessed the incident on May 12. It was first reported by the Times on Thursday.

It is said to be the first proof of British troops having an active combat role against IS in Libya, and is likely to raise questions as to the extent of the UK’s presence in the country.
A local fighter named Commander Durat, reportedly of Misrata’s Third Force, said the SAS had plotted ranges around a contested bridge in the area. When the vehicle approached, the soldiers “blew up the suicide truck with a huge explosion, the biggest we have seen yet.”
“Not one of our own forces was killed,” Durat said, adding “our British friends seemed quite calm about it that day.”
In April a senior Tory called for the British government to be more honest about its shadow war in Libya.
Foreign Affairs Committee chair Crispin Blunt MP told RT the UK could follow the example of the French and be frank about special forces deployments.
The presence of SAS troops in Libya was confirmed when it emerged in late March that Jordanian troops had been working with the SAS alongside local forces.
King Abdullah of Jordan made the claim during a private meeting with US politicians John McCain and Paul Ryan, the minutes of which were later obtained by the Guardian.

On May 6 the UK’s Middle East minister, Tobias Ellwood, appeared to confirm a conventional military mission in Libya is being prepared.
Of the 1,000 UK troops Britain is likely to commit to the North African state, around 250 will perform training roles, he said.
The bulk will maintain security, indicating that although it won’t be a combat mission, the military is expecting a fight.
Ellwood told MPs not to expect a democratic vote on the deployment.
“It is training and mentoring. It is not an operational initiative so there is no requirement for a vote in parliament. Please do not expect one on the issue,” he argued

An SAS sniper took out two ISIS car bombers with a single shot when they were driving towards their target in Libya.
The heroic sharpshooter saved hundreds of lives by hitting the driver in the head with a deadly shot from 1,000m.
The bullet went through the driver's skull and lodged in the passenger's neck, killing them both.

The jihadis were transporting a massive bomb to Tripoli where they planned to detonate it in a packed market, intelligence revealed.
After the marksmen took out his targets, their white 1990s Mercedes which was travelling at 30mph came to a halt.
Libyan troops, who were working with the SAS on the ambush, then sprayed the car with machine gun fire until it exploded in a raging fireball.

SAS sources are already calling the shot one of the best of all time.
'It was an amazing shot. It wasn't so much about the distance but the fact that it was a moving target,' a source told the Daily Star Sunday.
'If the sniper had missed a lot of people would have lost their lives.'

The source also praised the sharpshooter for his quick-thinking - the Libyan soldiers working with the four-man SAS team were supposed to take out the car but they panicked and fired their weapons too quickly, missing the target.
It was at that moment that the sniper intervened with his .338 Lapua Magnum rifle. He fired two shots to gauge the distance of the car before the third struck home.
'He was with the team advising the Libyans who were meant to be doing the ambush. He had little time to act,' the source added.

The shooting happened last month while members of the Hereford-based SAS were assisting the fight against Islamic State in Libya.

half of the stuff written is completely unreal... hard to believe stuff.. but if you dont go by the general consensus then you will be called ISIS sympathizer.. the lack of any skepticism is bewildering.. I imagine naughty editors in some newspaper office going 'lets see how far we can go.. what about isis women found eating their own babies as kebab as headline.. you think people will buy it?'
Lool if you believe our government will come out and start publishing all our secret operations by our special forces around the world then I must say you people are rather funny.
