So sorry to hear that one of the icons of France is no fire. I hope this is not blamed on the usual suspects. According to the media, the cause of the blaze was not known, but French media quoted the Paris fire brigade as saying the fire is "potentially linked" to a 6 million-euro ($6.8 million) renovation project on the church's spire and its 250 tons of lead. Probably during the repairs an spark started this tragic fire.

Very sad, I visited this cathedral long time ago. So beautiful. I’m Muslim but I found very beautiful.

I was thinking to visit it again with my children but unfortunately I don’t know when it will open again.

I hope firefighters (les Sapeurs Pompiers de Paris) will be able to save it.

Courage les gars, on ne peut qu’être de tout cœur avec vous.

It is said that there were maintenance/ repairing work on going.

But at this time nothing could be said about what caused this tragedy.

Looks like the whole building will be but a ruin. One of the large towers is now burning.
Surprising there are no helicopters to dump water on the fire.

Watched New York from the World Trade Center in 1973.
Went to Finland on the Estonia (had a different name then).

Just sadness seeing those images. The President was due to speak to the nation at 8pm but it's cancelled. It is said the fire started in a scaffolding.

Damn, so sad watching the tower collapse.
Last year I visited this beautiful monument and walked all the way to the statue of liberty and back to Les Halles via Notre Dame. I hope they control the fire before the whole building collapses.
