They keep making the building codes more strict, but there are still a lot of buildings that need to be knockdown and rebuilt as they've be complacent on this issue. You cannot bribe them, the problem is the codes weren't strict for a long time, especially when Tehran was growing at its fastest rate.


I agree that changing the capital won't change anything, they need to put a green belt in place to stop Tehran from expanding, and spend a lot of money on poorer cities and villages to stop people going to Tehran to look for jobs. Ahmadinejad also wants to incentivise people to move out of Tehran, which is always a good idea.

Iran isn't a third world country in any sense of the world, first of all this classification system is outdated and secondly, Iran is a high middle income country, India on the other hand has 400 million people that cannot read or write.

A high-income economy is defined by the World Bank as a country with a Gross National Income per capita of $11,906. Iran's is around $13,000.

I brought your country into it because you didn't use your brain and you were clearly taking a dig at Iran by a) talking about third world countries when it isn't even a proper classification b) taking the death of so many people lightly.

Come back after you find out the difference between Body wave magnitude (Mb) and Moment magnitude scale (Mw). The data you posted was for Mb, not for Mw.

Talking about an 'imminent Israeli / NATO' strike on Iran is beneficial for these reasons:

(1) By focusing on the Iranian casualties, world opinion towards Iran because better because most people don't want to see innocents get killed.

(2) By talking about it, the hype dies down for Iranians who instead of being scared, make real preparations.

(3) By constantly notifying the world of "Israeli / NATO strikes", the world refocuses on Israel / NATO being the aggressors (and reminding them of IRAQ and AFGHAN), instead of Islamic republic of Iran.







I do this knowingly. To defeat a bully, you yell out "He's going to hit me! He's crazy!" whenever he prepares to strike you. To defeat a thief, you yell out "He's a thief! Watch out lady, he's going to snatch your purse!" whenever he attempts to steal.

Is this coming from an Indian where 400 million people are illiterate? I never specified which scale i was talking about and in any case, even by the MW, we can see there was one in 2006, just four years ago. The sites data doesn't go back very far and in fact it is not complete for the MW. Put down a min of 2 and a max of 5 and see how many results you get and then cross reference it with another site to get the correct number and see that it is wrong.


The most important point here though, is that i made a typo, i meant 6, and maybe if you were a bit bright you could have guessed that, considering the Bam earthquake which we were talking about was a 6.6.
