Who shot the rockets to Israel? Major terror groups not only deny but denounce the shooters!

All the major terror groups in Gaza issued a joint statement that not only denied any of them shot the rockets this morning at Beersheva and off the coast near Bat Yam, but that denounced whoever shot them.

Even the Hamas Al Qassam Brigades published the statement.

The "Joint Operations Room" that represents all major Gaza terror organizations issued what appears to be an unprecedented statement that says they "reject all irresponsible attempts that try to sabotage the Egyptian (reconciliation) effort, including the rocket fire last night."

I have never seen any terror groups condemn any rocket fire from Gaza, or any terror operation.

The factions said that when they fight Israel, they do it openly and proudly and not "hiding behind any curtain" as the unknown group that shot the rocket has been doing.

This remarkable statement seems to be an attempt to avoid an escalation from Israel.

As far as I can tell, the "Joint Operations Room" includes Hamas, Islamic Jihad, DFLP and PFLP as well as Fatah.

If these groups are telling the truth (which is a big assumption,) then who did it?

Every once in a while we see stories about Salafist and ISIS-associated groups in Gaza who hate everyone else. Fighting flares up between them and Hamas. From all reports they are tiny.

The rockets that were shot this morning were not small homemade Qassams. They has a much longer range. Either they were smuggled in - which is very difficult nowadays - or they were built in Gaza, which would require a significant workshop.

Perhaps someone from one of the major terror groups defected with the rockets.

The thought that there is a wildcard group with that capability in Gaza is unsettling, to say the least.

Yesterday: Israel launched 20 air raids after that, today the Israeli Cabinet is still considering an wide assault campaign because of the demonstrations(unrelated to this incident)

Rocket explodes in Beersheva, Palestinian factions deny relation

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) -- A rocket launched from the besieged Gaza Strip exploded in the courtyard of a house in the city of Beersheva in southern Israel, on predawn Wednesday.

According to Hebrew-language news outlets, around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, a rocket launched from Gaza landed and exploded in the courtyard of a two-story house in the city of Beersheva.

Sources confirmed that no injuries were reported.

However, serious material damages to the house were reported.

The residents of the house, where the rocket exploded, suffered from panic attacks, as well as two other neighbors and were treated for anxiety.

An Israeli army spokesperson said that two rockets were launched from Gaza. One of the rockets was headed towards the sea, while the other rocket landed in Beersheva.

The spokesperson added that prior to the explosion, sirens were sounded in Beer Sheva and its surrounding areas.

In response to the explosion, Israeli Defense Minister, Avigdor Lieberman, decided to close all crossings on the Israel-Gaza borders and to further reduce the allowed fishing zone in Gaza.

In addition, the Palestinian factions denied any relation to the launch of the rocket that exploded in Beersheva.

The factions said in a joint statement that "The military wings of the factions in the joint operation room salute the Egyptian effort to attempt to achieve the demands of the Palestinian people and rejects all attempts that try to sabotage the Egyptian effort, including the rocket launch."

The factions added "The Palestinian people continue to fight back with all of their power through the protests known as 'The Great March of Return' and naval marches to break the siege, and we stand with our people, who participate weekly in such activities to achieve their demands for freedom and to be able to return to their homeland."

Reports that Egypt and Israel are warning Hamas to stop Palestinians from demonstrating on the border and coast within 3 days, or else Israel will declare an military assault campaign. Which is ridiculous, as Palestinians have the right to peacefully protest. Palestinians will not stop demonstrating, and Israel should think rationally.

The Israeli Cabinet is meeting now, and might order the army to strike Gaza civilian infrastructure, if they do, they started this conflict and will be in ethically wrong position. Of course expect US to support any such thing, so I'm not posting anything regarding that matter.

May God protect the Palestinian people from this terrorist enemy will bomb you for a sit in demonstration on the border. Of course the Palestinian Resistance will respond forcefully.

Breaking: Israeli Security Cabinet 'meeting' ends at 2:00 AM(Israeli time), ministers not allowed to brief media

More Israeli threats and deployments near Gaza border. Israeli Cabinet apparently instructing army to kill any demonstrators at the border. Might include tank fire or gun fire at demonstrators. They are threatening wide scale bombing of Gaza tomorrow if Palestinians organize a protest.

Hamas launches probe to figure out who fired the recent rocket(although not big deal anyway, Israel has been bombing Gaza as documented in this thread and killing demonstrators for past several months) and hold them accountable for trying to sabotage Egyptian efforts for long term truce. Also Palestinian military factions warning Israel not to consider an military assault or they will respond. While political officials assert no one is seeking war on Palestinian side, and peaceful demonstrations will continue until siege is lifted.

Massive demonstrations in eastern, central, northern and southern Gaza borders. Reports of 15 injured in eastern Gaza, while around a dozen or more injured in northern Gaza by Israeli gunfire as of now. The people are fed up and I believe Israel realizes the right choice to make is lift the siege in the coming weeks/months. Even if they launch an assault on Gaza, once it's over the fed up people will return to demonstrate on the border.

Israeli politicians should consider Egyptian proposal to allow for Egyptian controlled port right near Gaza's coast to help alleviate the siege.

Some pictures of Palestinians on their way to demonstrate :

Netanyahu may realize it is time to lift the siege, but is worried of either assassination from right wing settlers or destruction of legacy he created for himself in Israel. The radical Israeli population will destroy his reputation if he does the lift the siege. That is the only thing preventing Israel from advancing Egyptian proposals.

He definitely wants go down as a great leader for Israel in Israeli history. If Israel launches an assault campaign on Gaza, it will result in a major humanitarian crisis where they will have to temporarily lift the siege for months to repair damage done. So they have no good options, besides agreeing to long term truce.
