Well according to the article- Russia, Oman and the UAE are interested sir.
You don't really buy that or? It's an air show, where people inform themselfs about the products that are advertised, but that doesn't mean they will procure it now. Why would Russia buy an Indian radar system, on a Brazilian aircraft when they can provide the same indigenously? The UAE have Boeing 737, E-2Ds on offer, you don't really expect them to buy something "cost-effective" right? Oman is the only one in that list that might give a realistic chance, since we also have good political and military relations to them, but then again, we will be in competition against more capable and already available systems, so exports of such a product will be more than difficult, when you have nothing to show, neither the product nor a reputation to have successfully developed arms and techs.
How is that a missed chance sancho? The DRDO has its own plans for a larger AWACS that don't involve Embraer but will involve either Boeing or Airbus but that is irrelevant really as the DRDO is not looking to build a new airliner purely AWACS and that doesn't require a aircraft OEM onboard.
Because it's silly to switch your partners within projects in the same area. We simply could had taken the joint work DRDO and Embraer had done so far, to the next level, by jointly developing a more capable version, which probably would be even bought by Brazilian forces. Not to mention that the reputation of Embraer had helped us a lot for exports too.
Now they want to evaluate different fighters, have to form new JV's, has to build up new work agreements and even set up new standards for the project too, which all is available today in the EMB DRDO AWACS project. Boing and Airbus won't involve themselfs as partners, but as suppliers of platforms only. Boeing has even it's own system ready, so why should they team up with us for a competition project? Airbus is already working with ELTA for cost-effective AWACS aircafts, so won't be interested in a partnership with us, UNLESS it would be a joint project for European forces too.
So once again, DRDO make things more complicated than it needs to be, especially, since they don't even have IAF as a customer for their AWACS India project yet!
As you well know, at such international air shows/exhibitions delegations from around the world attend so it is rather irrelevant that it was shown at Baharain as there would have been officials from many nations including Latin America there for sure.
By that logic, you would only need to attend a single air show, since you expect customers from all over the world to be there right?
