BrahMos-A Integrated with IAF Sukhoi Su-30MKI

Here's the BrahMos-A air-launched supersonic cruise missile on one of two modified IAF Su-30 MKI fighters on display this year at Aero India. As I reported last month, the BrahMos is all set for its first flight in March. Not a moment too soon. The Indian Air Force, which placed an order for 216 BrahMos-A missiles in 2012 wants 42 of its Su-30s to deploy the BrahMos. HAL, involved in the modification of two airframes at its Nashik facility, will conduct the structural mod, reinforcement and additional avionics/software coding in cooperation with Sukhoi Design Bureau.

The RCS of Brahmos alone is enough to be picked up by any PD radar. Thanks to that and SU30's massive engines, it would be easy to spot......

No missile defence in the world has the capacity to intercept BRAHMOS in present. Period !

RCS of BRAHMOS is bare minimum because it does not have wings instead short fins.

It's a big missile and nothing stealthy about and the heat is good for heat seeking missiles:-). Aster missile hit a supersonic drone, you can find the video. Essm missile did hit supersonic drone to, so what makes you so confidence?

Not impossible to intercept but difficult, given Brahmos being a cruise missile can perform evasive maneuvering


Yes difficult but not impossible. A missile of that caliber and distance have to fly a high altitude, it can never fly long with that speed and skimming the ground. To fly and hit the target it must have a ideal flight path.

1. It has No Wings =>reduced RCS.
2. Low-High trajectory or S shaped trajectory
3. Speed Mach 3 (9 times kinetic energy)
4. Passive homing not Active, means it only listens but not speaks. No chance of Jamming or catching it's radar signature
5. Inertial Navigation system ,it means hardware error is corrected by software.
6. Universal launching capacity, from Ship,Submarines,Silo or Aircraft.
7. Air flow through missile so NO separate breathing tube=> Reduced RCS
8. Booster lies with the missile co-axially and get ejected after burn up.Further reduce length=> Reduced RCS
9. Vertical lift and vertical strike capacity=> can hit mountain bunkers
10.Actively differentiate among objects=> can hit your window in your house precisly

Mate . Why do you think BrahMos can't be used for targeting Aircraft ?

Tankers , AWACS and Aircraft can be targeted . In Air to Air mode.
I was thinking the same thing. The air to air version could hit large aircraft like tankers, and transport aircraft given the fact it has a active radar homing seeker.
Another note, its well established that the ground and sea based Brahmos has a range of 500 km like the orginal PJ-10 on high high and 300 KM low low.
