And you are comparing it with number of empty beds ? Reflect for a moment , even 1 person a day is huge. And here, 900 died.

You're right. It is terrible. It is also terrifying. This scourge can strike anyone apparently, young and healthy included. All we have to cling onto really is that at present, our hospitals have the ITU space such that we don't have to turn a suffering patient away because of a lack of ventilators and we can give everyone a fighting chance. In Europe, we're feeling on a knife edge. In Pakistan and India there seems to be far fewer deaths for now, hence the mood in different countries will be different.
