Bomb Blast At Pakistan Hospital

Police in Pakistan say there has been an explosion at a hospital in the southwest city of Quetta.

Local media reports said eight people were killed in the blast at the Civil Hospital, but this is unconfirmed.

Sky correspondent Alex Crawford said Quetta is in the Balochistan region, where a fierce independence movement is raging.

"There was a protest earlier on in the day in which someone was hurt," she said.

"Many people including reporters went to the hospital with the injured person.

"That's where the blast happened, accompanied by firing - at least one reporter is amongst the injured.

"It is also considered that in the area, there are a number of al Qaeda and Taliban leaders set up a de-facto headquarters, known as the Quetta Shura.

"However, the information is they are more likely to have left the area now and moved to other parts of Pakistan such as Karachi."

At least seven killed in Quetta bomb blast

QUETTA: A suicide bomber attacked a hospital emergency room where Shia Muslims had gathered Friday to mourn a slain bank manager, killing at least seven people including a journalist in Pakistan's main southwest city, police said.

Gunshots rang out after the explosion at the Civil Hospital, and rescuers carried away the dead and wounded, TV footage showed.

Among the seven dead was a cameraman working for Pakistan's Samaa TV, said Saifuddin Khan, a hospital official.

Journalists were at the hospital covering the aftermath of Friday's morning shooting death of the Shiite bank manager. The emergency room was full of the man's friends and relatives when the bomber detonated his weapons at the gate, police official Mohammad Sabir said. – Agencies

No it dont seems to be work of BLA

TTP or its affiliates may be behind todays events.

remember 2 things to under stand todays event

1] TTP is on retreat in NWFP and Punjab. Its members are getting arrested as far as in Karachi. To de pressurize they want to instigate Shia -Sunni or Deobandi-Sunni conflict.

2] US and ISAF is planning operation in Kandahar in june or july bordering Pakistan. Any increase in conflict in Baluchistan will be in Favor of Both TTP and TTA.

I think as todays attack proves that it was well planned and coordinated attack.

This one is most probably linked to sectarian conflict.

As there were people in the hospital who were relatives and friends of a Bank Manager killed yesterday or 2 days back, who belonged to the Shia community.

The bomber struck where the people were gathered.

The same technique was used in DI Khan last year, when a suicide bomber detonated himself inside a hospital, where Shia community people were gathered and protesting the killing of one or two shia community members a day before were martyred in a firing incident.

I believe the bank manager was killed deliberately and they found their opportunity by sending the suicide bomber and killed many other of the same community and some others also.

Doesn't looks to be the work of AQ or Taliban.

Sectarian one.

very sad incdent. May the victims rest in peace

Wherever terrorism strikes, the victims are always the same: innocents. That is the world HAS to stand together on the issue of terrorism and understand one thing: Terrorists anywhere are enemies of humanity everywhere.

RIP. A colleague's father is among the fatalities. Just a doctor doing his duty. Won't be coming home to his family anymore.

What do war augurs say? Harbinger of Qandahaari repurcussions ? Or a ploy to drag PA into the fray before Op. Qandahaar begins?
