Bollywood is a cottage industry. Unless, they open it up for competition, we are stuck with shit films that won't win any international awards. It took a Britisher to make Slumdog Millionaire, then won an Oscar for it.

Most of the movies that bollywood makes are just copies of american movies. For example the famous Amir khan movie: "Gajni" was just a copy of Memento.
