Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has come to Bangladesh to inspect the Rohingya refugee camps.




Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra has met Rohingya people and their children at a refugee camp in Bangladesh.

She visited the Shamlapur camp on Monday afternoon at Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar district where the refugees from Myanmar have taken shelter, Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police Afrajul Haque Tutul told bdnews24.com.

She arrived at Shahjalal International Airport in a flight from France on Monday morning.

From there she took a US-Bangla flight to Cox’s Bazar, which arrived at 12:30pm.

The actress is visiting the camps in her capacity as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.

Police officer Tutul said Chopra also visited the local office of the UN agency for children before the refugee camp visit.

He said the actress spoke to the Rohingya children at different blocks of the refugee camp.

She declined speaking to the media during the visit.

Before ending her four-day tour on Thursday, she will visit the Balukhali and Jamtali refugee camps in Ukhiya on Tuesday and the Kutupalong Rohingya refugee camp on Wednesday.

‘তোমাদের এখানে আমাকে ঘোরাবে?’ রিফাত হোসেনকে বাংলায় জিজ্ঞেস করলেন প্রিয়াঙ্কা চোপড়া। মাথা নেড়ে সম্মতি জানায় এই রোহিঙ্গা শিশু। এরপর তার হাত ধরে রোহিঙ্গা শিবিরে হাঁটলেন এই বলিউড তারকা। আজ সোমবার বেলা ৩টা ৩৫ মিনিটে টেকনাফের বাহারছড়ার শামলাপুর মনখালি ব্রিজের পাশে অস্থায়ী রোহিঙ্গা শিবিরে যান তিনি। এ সময় তাঁর পরনে ছিল কালো জিনসের প্যান্ট, টি-শার্ট আর মাথায় স্কার্ফ। তাঁর সঙ্গে ছিলেন ইউনিসেফ ও স্থানীয় প্রশাসনের ঊর্ধ্বতন কর্মকর্তারা।

প্রিয়াঙ্কা চোপড়া আসছেন, খবরটি আগে থেকেই রটে যায়। তাই অতিথিদের গাড়ি এসে থামতেই ভিড় করেন রোহিঙ্গা শিবিরে থাকা মানুষজন। সঙ্গে আরও আসেন স্থানীয় অধিবাসীরা। যে তারকাকে সবাই দেখেছেন হিন্দি চলচ্চিত্রে, তাঁকে কাছ থেকে এক নজর দেখার জন্য সবার চেষ্টা। মুহূর্তেই ভিড় বেড়ে যায়। প্রিয়াঙ্কা চোপড়ার নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করার জন্য আগে থেকেই পর্যাপ্ত পুলিশ মোতায়েন করা হয় সেখানে। পুলিশ ধাক্কা দিয়ে আর লাঠিপেটা করে সবাইকে সরিয়ে দেওয়ার চেষ্টা করে। কিন্তু তাতে বাধা দেন প্রিয়াঙ্কা চোপড়া। পুলিশকে অনুরোধ করেন, ‘প্লিজ, কাউকে এভাবে সরাবেন না। ধাক্কা দেবেন না।’

টেকনাফে রোহিঙ্গাদের অস্থায়ী শিবিরে নেওয়া হয় কঠোর নিরাপত্তাব্যবস্থা। ছবি: প্রথম আলোপ্রিয়াঙ্কা চোপড়া এ সময় আরেকটি শিশুর সঙ্গে কথা বলেন। বাংলায় ছেলেটিকে তিনি জিজ্ঞেস করেন, ‘তোমার নাম কী?’ ছেলেটি বলল, মো. রফিক। ‘তুমি স্কুলে যাও?’ ছেলেটি মাথা নেড়ে বলল, যাই।

প্রিয়াঙ্কা চোপড়াকে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয় ইউনিসেফ পরিচালিত হাসপাতালে। এ সময় হাসপাতালের ভেতরে বাইরের কাউকে ঢুকতে দেওয়া হয়নি। জানা গেছে, প্রিয়াঙ্কা সেখানে রোগীদের সঙ্গে কথা বলেন। হাসপাতালের চিকিৎসকদের কাছে ডায়রিয়ায় আক্রান্ত শিশুদের ব্যাপারে খোঁজখবর নেন। পানিবাহিত রোগের ব্যাপারেও জানতে চান। এ সময় তাঁকে জানানো হয়, এই অস্থায়ী শিবিরে বিশুদ্ধ পানি সরবরাহ করা হচ্ছে।

আগেই জানানো হয়েছে, প্রিয়াঙ্কা চোপড়া বাংলাদেশে এসেছেন। আজ সোমবার সকাল আটটায় ঢাকার হজরত শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দরে নামেন তিনি। এখানে ঘণ্টা তিনেক অবস্থান করার পর তিনি কক্সবাজারের উদ্দেশে রওনা দেন। কক্সবাজার বিমানবন্দর থেকে সড়কপথে প্রিয়াঙ্কাকে উখিয়ায় রয়েল টিউলিপ হোটেলে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়। কক্সবাজারে প্রিয়াঙ্কা চোপড়া চার দিন থাকবেন।

প্রিয়াঙ্কার সফরসূচি থেকে জানা গেছে, আগামীকাল মঙ্গলবার সকালে তিনি উখিয়ার বালুখালী ও জামতলী রোহিঙ্গা ক্যাম্প পরিদর্শন করবেন। এরপর বিকেলে টেকনাফ রোহিঙ্গা ক্যাম্প পরিদর্শন করবেন তিনি। বুধবার উখিয়ার কুতুপালং রোহিঙ্গা ক্যাম্প পরিদর্শন করবেন। বৃহস্পতিবার সকালে কক্সবাজার ত্যাগ করবেন এই বলিউড তারকা।

জাতিসংঘের শিশুবিষয়ক তহবিলের (ইউনিসেফ) শুভেচ্ছাদূত হিসেবে বাংলাদেশে এসেছেন তিনি।

প্রিয়াঙ্কা চোপড়া ১৯ মে ব্রিটিশ রাজপরিবারের আমন্ত্রণে প্রিন্স হ্যারি আর মেগান মার্কেলের রাজকীয় বিয়েতে উপস্থিত ছিলেন। সেখান থেকে তিনি দুবাই হয়ে এমিরেটস এয়ারলাইনসের একটি উড়োজাহাজে ঢাকায় এসেছেন।

Not all of them, some of them are though....they were after all in an intense last-ditch situation for quite some time now....given they started this way back and now hypocritically cry about the inevitable blowback heaped back on them.
