Pakistan: Peshawar cinema known for porno movies hit by deadly blasts


At least 11 people have been killed in a multiple bombing Tuesday afternoon at a movie theater in Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar, a hospital official said.
Syed Jamil Shah, press officer for the city's Lady Reading Hospital, said 18 others were injured, two of whom were in critical condition.

A senior Peshawar police officer, Ijaz Ahmed, said three hand grenades hit the Shama Cinema, which is infamous in the city for showing pornographic movies.

One blast was inside the cinema, and the other two outside, he told reporters.

The movie theater had received security threats, and police had advised that metal detectors should be set up outside it. This advice was not heeded, Ahmed said.

No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Shahidullah Shahid, spokesman for the Pakistan Taliban, also known as Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan, denied any involvement by the militant group.

Peshawar, the capital city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwest Pakistan, borders the tribal districts that are a stronghold of the Pakistan Taliban.

A week ago a suicide bomber blew himself up near a hotel restaurant in Peshawar, killing nine people and injuring more than 30 others, according to local officials.

Who kept tribal pakhtuns backward and illiterate? Who kept imposing FCR on them? Who didnt built school, colleges and universities in FATA? Who took advantage of their martial nature and love for islam and installed jihadism in them to serve national interests? Stop blaming the world for their mistakes fatan's were also, part of the problem the so called jirga's should have thought of the consequences in long term when they decided to join hands and become assets but it's the money and wrong systems which were supported by stupid jirga's who in return got the entire region into such a mess. Pashtun areas have suffered too much violence. A lot of it at the hands of their own Pashtun people. Time has come for them to do some soul searching on how they ended up here.

Their violent activities and behavior which they tout and are proud to own and display must be taken into consideration. So is their over zealous views on Islam, women education and social rights.

All these things are contributing factors to the display of such violence. Where theaters are bombed because they're considered unislamic. Bazaars are bombed because women go there alone or without a veil or burqa. And schools are bombed because they're educating girls, or brain washing Pashtun youth's minds. And polio drops are denied to children because it's an evil scheme to wipe out the Pashtun race.

Until Pashtun people rid themselves of this nonsense bakwas thinking, I'm afraid they'll continue to be the victim of their own ideology.
