KARACHI: A powerful blast rocked Malir area of Karachi sending panic wave around the metropolis amid mourning in connection with Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain, Geo News reported Tuesday.

According to Geo News correspondent, the blast occurred in an Alto car, which is currently on fire near Kala Board area of Karachi.

The blast was so powerful that it was heard far and wide and the windowpanes of nearby buildings broke.

Several hurt in Karachi blast

KARACHI: Several people were injured in a powerful blast that rocked Malir 15 area of Karachi in a mourning procession sending panic wave around the metropolis, Geo News reported Tuesday.

According to Geo News correspondent, the blast occurred in an Alto car, which is currently on fire near Kala Board area of Karachi.

The blast was so powerful that it was heard far and wide and the windowpanes of nearby buildings broke.

Relief activities have been kicked off on the blast site. Law-enforcement agencies have arrived on the scene.

According to Edhi sources, six injured people have been shifted to Jinnah hospital.

In a contradictory note, the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO), Fayyaz Leghari said the explosives were rigged to a motorcycle, which went off, injuring many people.

Motorcycle bomb hits Karachi, casualties: police

KARACHI: A motorcycle bomb detonated in Pakistan’s southern city of Karachi on Tuesday, shortly after a separate deadly explosion in Lahore, causing an unknown number of injuries, police officials told AFP.

“It was a motorcycle bomb,” city police chief Fayyaz Leghari said.

“When the bomb exploded it was huge and heard far away. Some people have been injured, but we are still collecting details about the blast and wounded.”The bomb took place in Karachi’s densely populated eastern neighbourhood of Kala Board. – AFP

APP adds:

One police officer was martyred while five persons were injured in an explosion near a police mobile in Saudabad here on Tuesday, police said.

According to Saudabad police, the police mobile was totally damaged in the blast caused by an explosive device fixed in a motorcycle.

The injured have been shifted to JPMC treatment.

Force your gov to stop cooperating with Americans, this option is alot easier and more effective. If they stop cooperating with the NATO, the militants and Taliban will stop attacking teh gov and there will a cease fire.

Blast Kills Three Policemen in Pakistan's Karachi

At least three policemen were killed and 14 others injured as a suicide blast hit a police van in Pakistani port city of Karachi on Tuesday, police and witnesses said.

City Police chief Fiaz Leghari said that the bomb was fixed in a motorcycle which exploded in the Malir area of Karachi. A suicide motorcyclist hit the police mobile, local residents said.

Police said the head of the suicide attacker was recovered from the scene.

All the injured have been shifted to the nearby Jinnah hospital by the local residents. After the blast some unknown people put a public bus on fire.
