Blast at Jamia Naeemia; Dr Sarfraz martyred

Whipping the 'poor girl' was a drama. For other incidents, they may be responsible. I used the word 'may be' because I don’t possess 'Ilm ul Ghaib', so I can only guess or speculate until someone is caught and found guilty for a criminal act or planning and or supporting of that act in the court of law.

Even though I never brought the mentioned incident into my comments, but answer to that could be yes or no. Maybe GoP/security forces failed to assess the possible reaction of the people.
It was a suicide attack for god sake.No ISI Or RAW Agent would be willing to blow himself.

These suicide attackers are for sale, there was a report on this. There was a dispute of land and one party bought a suicide bomber and blew the head of the other party. Reference: http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2008%5C12\24\story_24-12-2008_pg13_1. Again it is only a theory not a fact until proven. I only brought it up so the incident could be viewed and analyzed from more than one angle. Mufti sahib was also a very active ‘Ahl e Sunnat’ cleric and he could also be a target of an apposing fraction or sect. He was an active participant in Tehreek Nifaz-e-Nizam-e-Mustafa in the 1970s and the Tehreek Namus-e-Risalat in February 2006. In February 2006, Mufti saheb was arrested for taking part in the Tehreek Namus-e-Risalat. He was Nazim-e-Aala of Tanzeemul Madaris Ahle Sunat and Jamia Naeemia.

This is amazing - while the Tehreek-e-Fck all has claimed open responsibility for these bombings, and had previously issued blatant threats to conduct exactly these kinds of terrorist attacks, there are people here blaming it on Blackwater, a private US security firm.

Just freaking amazing. :disagree:

Hows this for a theory - the people who threatened to do something like this, have carried out countless terrorist bombings like this in the past, and are now brazenly claiming responsibility for the recent bombings, may be our prime suspects!

I was not referring to you specifically, making a more general argument.

On your second point, the same could be argued in case of the Taliban - they have claimed responsibility and have committed such acts several times in the past.

I am with qsaark on this one I think blackwater may be involved in this but that is only my opinion .

There are 2 theories.
1) A private military/operations group based in the US goes to Pakistan, hires mercenary suicide bombers and kills an obscure (in America anyway) cleric who opposed Taliban. Taliban has been killing Blackwater people for a while.

2) A bunch of guys who claim to be religious kill someone they see as a threat to them coming to power over Pakistan.

And you go and pick the first option ? And you avoid Taliban as the culprit just because they claim to be true Muslims ? When did claims of "being truly Islamic" become get out of jail free cards?

Yes but they have never killed a religious figure before. Any anonymous person could make a phone call to a newspaper's office and claim responsibility. How to verify that the person who is claiming to be TTP member is indeed one not an undercover agent?

I can not speak for him, but in my opinion, this act has done no good to the TTP. It is not because the TTP guys are considered 'truly Islamic' but because of a simple logical thing. Just like the Twin Tower conspiracy...By bringing those towers down, Al-Qaeda (if any such thing really existed back than) did no good for itself, and/or for the Muslims. That act of terrorism only brought misery and suffering for the Muslims.

Al Qaeda obviously had no clue what the retaliation would be. They attacked USS cole, bombed US embassies, attacked WTC itself (in 1993) and the retaliation was not too bad. When finally WTC fell, they started hearing the music.

Same thing here I guess. First they strike and Pakistan makes a deal with them (Musharraf). They do it again and Pakistan imposes Sharia and sends a peace committee (Zardari). Now they may have crossed the limits, but have not yet realized that.

Ever considered that may be exactly what they want ? To ensure that Muslims suffer and the suffering is seen as the result of them being "less pure" or "pro America" and that the Muslims end up fighting anyone seen as infidel ?

Osama/Mullah Omar at least has the view that killing infidels is OK. If any Muslims are killed as collateral damage, that too is OK because god will give the good muslims heaven.

That sort of "Kill them all and let god sort the good ones from bad" ideology can do a lot of damage.

You actually question that al Qaeda existed and was responsible for the atttack of 9/11? If so you are an irhabi sympathizer of the first order. Don't you read anything?? I thought you were far more intelligent and fair-minded that this. I am really disappointed in your lack of honesty.

I don’t care what you think about me, whether I belong to the first order or above that. Nonsense, what is this first and second order? Is it written in your constitution or in some law book? I believe in nothing until it is proven, I am a Scientist and we are trained like this. Prove in a court of law that the twin towers were brought down by the Al-Qaeda and I'll accept it. Until than it is only a theory and I don’t believe in killing people based on theories. You guys have turned this 9/11 thing into Holocaust denial, where people are not allowed to speak against the pre-determined theory. Where your 'free speech' goes when someone wants to discuss things which are not even proven? whereas in order to defame Islam and our Prophet you always try to hide behind the veil of the 'free speech'.

Many religious scholars in Islamabad have also received messages from the Taliban that they have only two options, either to support the Taliban or leave the capital or they will be considered collaborators of the “pro-American Zardari government” which, they claim, is not different from the previous Musharraf regime.

It is also surprising that the Taliban of Swat and Bajaur have included the names of some religious and Jihadi leaders, who are not ready to fight inside Pakistan against their own countrymen, in their hit lists.

The Taliban have accused some militant leaders of the tribal areas and some leaders of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, Harkatul Mujahideen and Hizbul Mujahideen of trying to stop youngsters from fighting the Pakistani forces. Taliban have declared all these “pro-Pakistan” Jihadis as their enemies.
Taliban threaten attack on Islamabad

The Taliban had no need to threaten or kill religious figures before because they had not lost this much public support before, nor had religious scholars taken a strong public anti-Taliban stance against them.

The more their support has eroded, the wider they have cast their net, in terms of threatening religious figures, political leaders and other militant leaders.
