Blasphemy case against man for ‘torching Bible’
KASUR: The Ganda Singh police arrested a man and registered a blasphemy case against him for allegedly burning a Bible and other religious books in a Church at Sanda Phattak village.
Complainant John Masih stated in the FIR that his wife, Sadiqan Bibi, saw a man torching copies of the Bible and other religious books in the church.
He said Sadiqan locked the church door from outside and informed him (John) and others about the incident. Later, Pastor Shakeel Nasir, Ishaq Masih, Arshad Masih and some other villagers came to the church. They informed the police and later handed the accused over to them.
The accused was identified as Azhar of Sialkot district. Police said the accused seemed to be a deranged person. Meanwhile, a delegation of around 20 Christians from Kasur and other districts met DPO Ali Nasir Rizvi.
The DPO said the delegation expressed its satisfaction over the timely action taken by the police.
The DPO said the situation was peaceful and under control.
LOOTED: At least 10 robbers looted yarn, cloths, a motorcycle and mobile phones worth Rs1 million from a textile unit on Ferozepur Road near Bhalo village in Mustafaabad on Wednesday.
Reports said the armed men barged into the textile unit owned by Yasir Sadiq and held the staff and workers hostage. They loaded yarn, cloths and a bike on a truck and escaped with the booty.
Police have registered a case and are investigating.
SHOT DEAD: Rivals shot dead a man over a money dispute at Raja Jang village on Wednesday.
Reports said Muhammad Mansha of Lahore had a dispute of Rs2.6 million with Umar Hayat. On Wednesday, Hayat called Mansha at his outhouse and gunned him down.
Raja Jang police have registered a murder case against Hayat and his three accomplices on the complaint of victim’s son Saeed Ahmed.
