i can only wish that BJP frees itself out of the influence of the sangh parivar. history has taught us to keep religion and politics apart. its only us who will pay if we disregard this. europeans have paid the price, pakistanis are paying the price; its upto us to decide.

Problem is that most of the fringe element think that the country voted of their views , while the fact is that the BJP came to power on development agenda. never once was Hindutva mentioned by modi during the run up to the elections.

i keep remembering those times when NDA-1 was in power under Atal Ji. he tried to get free from the influence of the sangh parivar (i may be wrong), and look what happened. such a sad exit for such an able leader.
i am afraid Modi will meet the same fate if he repeats Atalji's way and we shall find another posterboy who will don the "devtaa" tag for another term.
as you said, these fringe elements will keep on barking and biting unless the govt sends some strong signals. PM modi, though late, came up with some really strong statements. now if he could come up with some actions to match up his words (when required), things could be different.

as far as i know, BJP just had to use the general discontent about the cong govt apathy to developement and illegal immigration issue.
maybe the cow belt has more than fare share of sanghis, but here in assam its different. here riots happen due to general discontent, not because the populace is fool enough to toe the line of some communal leader to commence riots.

Yes they won a state which was run by the congress for 15yrs. high on anti incumbency , run by a man who was the CM for 15 yrs and indulged in dynasty politics. They also had to use the former Dy Cm of the congress to win. when will you guys learn no one want religion brought up in governance, they want development , which is being hijacked by the sangh .
By the way no BJP CM till date has finished 15 yrs in office . Raman S will be the first to do so next year.

CM comes and go. BJP is in power in gujarat since late 90s and unlikely to loose in any near foreseeable future. Shivraj and raman are also unlikely to go.
