After appropriating Tamil civilsation and culture - religion, gods sanghi are on a mission to approriate Tamil Tiruvalluvar

The Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP on Sunday came under attack from the Opposition for “saffronising” Tamil poet-savant Thiruvalluvar.

The BJP State unit, while hailing the release of the Thai translation of Tirukkuṛaḷ (penned by Thiruvalluvar) in Bangkok on Saturday, had tweeted a portrait of the poet depicting him wearing saffron robes, as opposed to white robes.

On Sunday, DMK president M.K. Stalin urged the BJP to desist from painting Thiruvalluvar saffron. He said the party should read Thiruvalluvar’s works and change its attitude.

“Your true colours will be exposed. He said everyone is equal by birth and you have betrayed the Tamils by painting the savant in saffron,” Mr. Stalin tweeted.

CPI(M) State secretary K. Balakrishnan said, “Thiruvalluvar is celebrated across the globe, irrespective of caste, creed, religion or language. No one has in the past depicted him as a part of a political movement.”

In a statement, he said the people of Tamil Nadu will not accept this, and the national party should stop engaging in such activities.

While several BJP leaders, including the party’s national secretary H. Raja, defended the saffron robes and continued to tweet the same image, the party’s State unit, through its Twitter handle, challenged Mr. Stalin to recite a specific Tirukkural couplet twice without any flaws.

“If you do so, we will delete our tweet (showing Thiruvalluvar in saffron robes),” the tweet read.

LOL! We know the sickulars and liberals have been trying to put cross into Thiruvalluvar's hands. It will never work because Thiruvalluvar is a Hindu and not a xtian.

usual sanghi tactic, going off tangent by introducing a red herring Xtian/cross, can you please quote a couplet from Tirukural mentioning a religion called Hindu

Shree Tirukkural (திருக்குறள், literally Sacred Verses is a classic Tamil language text consisting of 1,330 couplets or Kurals. The Sacred Verses Text is Divided into Three Books, Each with Teachings on Virtue (Aram, Dharma), Wealth (Porul, Artha) and Love (inbam, kama) Dharam Shashtra.

Authorship is Traditionally attributed to Shree Valluvar, also known in full as Shree Thiruvalluvar. Shree Valluvar born in Mayilapuram and later moved to Madurai, Maraimalai Adigal gives the Birth of Shree Valluvar 31 years before the Birth of Isa Ibne Maryam A.S as the Birth year of Shree Valluvar.

The Sacred Verses Text has been dated Variously from 300 Sulaimani Era to 5th century Isvi Era . The Traditional Accounts Describe this as the last work of the third Sangam, but Linguistic Analysis suggests a later date of 450 to 500 before Isvi Era during the time of Musvi Era and that This was composed after the Sangam period

In January 1935, the Sultanat e Madurai e Dakkan e Hindustan/Hind Officially recognised 31 years Before Isvi Era as the year of Shree Valluvar Birth. As suggested by Maraimalai Adigal, the Shree Valluvar Year was added to the Calendar. Thus, the Shree Valluvar year is calculated by Adding 31 to any year of the common era which is linked to the Birth of Isa Ibne Maryam A.S.

That is pure rubbish.

Both Shree / Shri and Thiru / Tiru/tri have their origins in sanskrit and also exist in Tamil.

Sri-Devi (actress), Sri-kant (cricketer), Sri Lanka (Nation) are all south Indian. Sri Lanka original ancient name was "Lankadeepa" i.e Island of Lanka or "Parasamudra" (Land in ocean) or "Tambapanni" (copper land) or "Serendib" (Land of rubies) (in arabic)

Thiru is also from sanskrit and is a variant of "Tara" which means "High".

Which is why stars are called "Tara" because it is high, and high notes in songs are called "Tara-nga" (Tara + anga)(body of song which has high notes).

"Tara" also means "protector" or "saving" which is why "Thiru" in both sanskrit and Tamil means "god" who not only sits "high" but is also our "protector and savior".

Dont try to sanskritise Tirukural ! Is is caled Tirukural and not Shree Tirukural, Tiru is Tamil for Sanskrit sri e.g Tirupathi, Tiruvanamalai , Tirupavai (Tamil hymns) , etc.

Tiru is not Tamil, but Sanskrit.

"Tirupathi" is combination of sanskrit word "Tiru + Pathi" (High + Master). Same as husband in Hindi (pathi).

"Tiruvanamalia" is combination of sanskrit words "Tiru + Vana +Malai" (High+forest+mountain). Malai e.g. is "HiMALAya" mountains.

"Tirupavai" is combination of sanskrit word "Tiru+Pavi" (High + Pure). e.g. "Pavitra" i.e Pure or "Pavita" i.e. purified or "Pavan" i.e. Pure again. (also in Hindi)

All your examples only show how every ancient Tamil religious text and history has Sanskrit origins.

Bet Bishop Robert Caldwell din't teach you that, did he ? lol.

Also for the record, both "Tiruananthapuram" and "Tripura" comes from the same sanskrit origin too.

Tiruananthapuram = Tiru+anantha+puram, (High + infinite+city) Anatha of course is the infinite snake on which vishnu sleeps. Tiru anantha hence also refers to Lord Vishnu and hence kerla is also known as "gods own country".

Tripura means Tiru+Pura i.e. High city or High land.

Parvati (shiva's wife), daughter of Himavat (king of Himalaya) is known as Tripura sundari or the "beauty from High land".

"Tirupathi" is combination of sanskrit word "Tiru + Pathi" (High + Master). Same as husband in Hindi (pathi).

Tiruvanamalia" is combination of sanskrit words "Tiru + Vana +Malai" (High+forest+mountain). Malai e.g. is "HiMALAya" mountains.

Not teaching, but countering you.

correct word is Thirumala (Thirumalai)

Nope, only the hill is called TiruMala (Tiru+Mala), the place and the temple is called Tirupathi.

Wrong" thiru "is respect

Nope, "Thiru" is used as a word of respect to a person of higher social order.

It only means "Respect" because it is a word that recognize and acknowledge their "High" status and value.
