Actually it is. Someone has to collect all the data and whoever is manning that system can alter the data sent in the sheets. Plus back in the day you could change the calender and clock to get a loop hole. So basically its a step up from a munshi with a ledger and taking thumb stamps. Hopefully they have considered a lock box system which I doubt because it requires servers + internet connection. Larger schools might but it is the rural population that needs it the most because they having no fall back option of private schools.

Thats why I said back in the day. Any self respecting system trying biometrics wouldnt dream of leaving this open. Unless windows 98 can still support a biometrics machine.

there is one more way. during data collection 2 or more finger impressions are taken. trick is to convince the collecting guy to take a common finger impression for your motley of friends. in this way a single person can do the proxy for entire group !!

One option is what @Muhammad Omar has explained, other can be check-in and check-out. When you come in morning, this machine will log your timing at which you've arrived, and then when you are gonna leave, you'll have to log your time out too. No Time-out = absence counted.

That is implemented in most (at least all the research institutes I worked at in Europe as well as in universities ....they have a time log punch in thing in some)

That will leave a trail. The person doing it will have no way out of it if he gets caught other than deleting all finger prints. This is assuming its a dumb system that does not know that there is same fingerprint for multiple users present. In other words, its too complicated and there are so many easier ways

What about video conference? Anyway it is ******** amazing so many teachers get paid while not even attending. This is very serious issue in Pakistan. You remember water car engineer? He was getting paid for being teacher, while he was running around selling his water car.

The best thing is an IP camera... it costs around Pkr 22K.... you need internet and you can see who is coming leaving from a central place ....

You can have facial recognition system able to recognize teachers at different times (assuming teachers go to different class rooms to teach). So Class 1 has Teacher XYZ from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. The system will periodically turn on (say after 10 minutes interval) and detect the presence of the person inside the classroom.

So once you wipe in your card and it detects your face, the class room door is unlocked. After the class, you have to follow the same procedure to unlock the door. If you don't do it considering the door was already open...the salary is docked. Of course, safety mechanisms are built in if there is an emergency (like fire, shooting etc).

The data can be encrypted in a way that no Pakistani munshi would know anything about......... regarding transmission of data, a simple Edge connection would suffice................ no need of server for such a puny equipment............

Most of such compact systems have all built in, and no, there will be no need of server. Regarding the "OS", such systems have extremely light embedded OS's, that have nothing to do with Microsoft.........

I might be missing something but the data gathered has to go somewhere. A computer would be the cheapest and easiest solution. Even if localized.
