ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has submitted a bill in the National Assembly secretariat seeking de-weaponization of the country, Geo News reported.

The bill suggested minimum seven years of imprisonment and Rs 100 million for the violator. De-weaponization Bill 2011, sought to curb the illegal production, trade and use of arms.

Addressing the media in Islamabad, MQM leader Farooq Sattar said in the wake of increasing law and order problem control over illegal weapon was necessary.

Its more like a bill to deweaponize their opponents so they can ensure their etneral raj over karachi by violence. Seriously the weapon culture is a brainchild of MQM and they have shown little regards for the laws so they can be trusted very little with presentation of such "cosmetic" bill. End of the day MQM thugs are not roaming with "licensed" TT's to extort bhattas and target kill.

Only people who are born live earn and die in Karachi should be appointed in Karachi Police and rangers i dont think any person in karachi thinks that Karachi police is there to actually protect them
and under these conditions every Karachite has the right to keep a licensed gun with him
I think deweaponisation of Pakistan would be a good step
but big changes in the police department is necessary so that all the citizens of Karachi will feel safe and there would be no need to keep a gun with them

why is karachi a country??? that only karachi people can get in and out?

& why don't you apply this "logic" to balochistan? where Frontier Corps is......if we follow your rule pakistan will have many city states! and won't be a country!


but having said all this deweaponising pakistan is secondry first we need to deweaponise karachi!! it is the only MAJOR CITY in PAKISTAN where guns are so common!!! lahore,quetta & peshawar don't even come close!

We need to sort out our police first, supposedly this bill is passed and than i bet there will be 1000's of FIR's against weaker opponents for carrying arms and just like any other law it will be abused by the powerful.
Corrupt police will lock up innocents and even produce weapons out of them...

but what will happen to those who have licensed one, as one of my brother said in this post law is already there, yes there is law that every citizen has rights to keep weapon for self and family defence.

and i think Licensed weapon kept by a person who is not terrorist as he fullfills all requirements as per country law.

I think we (Govt and stakeholder such as Police, LEAs) have to police law which is already there, i have gone through an article by orya maqbool jan...

de weaponziation will be good if all of the weapons sweeped out from the country without discrimination, not only from Karachi, as these weapons are not manufactured in karachi and people blindly trust on LEA specially police.

i think if we have such system like many other countries have like rescue 911 or so... get help in few minutes in mishaps (Allah forbid) than there is not need to have or rely on personal weapons.

First you need to study why he's talking like this, u need to know who is the Interior Minister of Karachi;

He's the head of Law enforcement agencies working in karachi, and all the police men in karachi are from either sindh or baluchistan and punjab too, and recently Zulfiqar Mirza has given jobs in police to 3000 gangster of lyari gang war, thats why the situation in karachi is that bad, even some people of karachi says that if entire karachi police is scrapped and sent to home then it would reduce the crime rate, because every incident has police behind in it.

If u still loves karachi police then tell me why the situation is such worse in karachi.

It burns the blood of karachiites to see those anti-karachi people sitting in karachi.
Only solution for the peace of karachi is to elect head of police with the support of karachiites!
