Bihar election

Seat sharing formula of NDA alliance almost done. BJP to get about 170 and its allies 73 .Official announcement tomorrow.
170 is not possible for BJP to get in current scenario. Expect anything between 155 to 162 for BJP. Manjhi is adamant for more seats....

2 new developments:
*NCP-SP-Pappu Yadav and Devendra Yadav to make 'Secular Mahagathbandhan' and Tariq Anwar of NCP to be CM candidate(a muslim face).

* MIM to contest elections in Seemanchal region of Bihar( Consist of 4 districts and almost 30 seats, Muslims here are in large numbers and decide seats).
BJP seems to be a clear gainer from these 2 developments for obvious reasons as theres going to be many close margin seats and thats where BJP can get help.

MIM to contest Bihar elections from Seemanchal: Owaisi
Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) today said it will contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections from Seemanchal region.

MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said his party will contest the election but will limit itself to Seemanchal region, which comprise mainly four districts - Araria, Purnea, Kishanganj and Katihar.

"We are limited to Seemanchal area of Bihar. We are realistic about our chances of winning. We know our strengths and weaknesses. It is in the interest and justice of Seemanchal region we are contesting elections there," Owaisi said without disclosing the number of seats his party will
contest.

He replied in the negative when asked about the pre-poll alliance with other parties.

"Bihar's development parameters are bad. But when it comes to Seemanchal it is worse. That's why we want the government to set up a regional developmental council under Article 371," he said.

Owaisi held Congress, BJP, Nitish Kumar and other parties as responsible for the underdevelopment of the region.

When asked about the division of votes when the party contests without any alliance, the MIM leader said the NDA won with great majority even when his party was not in the poll fray in Jammu and Kashmir and local body elections of Rajasthan.

"Did I contest in Delhi elections? Did I contest in J&K elections. Did I contest in Municipal elections of Rajasthan? This is a wrong allegation which has no relevance. So-called secular parties have lost their credibility," he said.

MIM, which has two seats in the Maharashtra assembly, has appointed Akhtar Imam as president of AIMIM's Bihar unit.

Bihar Polls: NDA Likely to Announce Seat-Sharing Deal Today, Say Sources

Sources say the NDA is likely to announce seat-sharing deal today for Bihar polls

NEW DELHI/PATNA: After few hiccups and some hard bargaining, the BJP finally appears to have stitched together a seat-sharing deal for next month's Bihar polls. An announcement is likely this evening, say sources.

At a meeting late last night, BJP President Amit Shah managed to convince Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan that parties should contest seats where they have a strong base. Ms Paswan, sources say, agreed to tone down his demand to 40-odd seats.

Mr Shah also held final seat-sharing talks with two other allies, former chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi of the Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) and union minister Upendra Kushwaha of the Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) this morning. Both had earlier announced that they would agree to a just decision on seat-sharing by the BJP chief.

Sources say that the broad seat-sharing formula arrived at gives the BJP nearly 160 seats to contest while the allies get the rest - 70-odd seats - of the 243 seats in the state.

Before the possible announcement today, Mr Shah met top BJP leaders. He is later expected to meet all party MPs from Bihar.

Sources say the BJP wants a larger chunk of the seats so that it is assured of winning a comfortable majority of 122 on its own and reducing its dependence on the partners. While the party, sources say, is not worried about Mr Paswan's LJP - should the rival Nitish Kumar-Lalu Prasad combine manages to win seats close to the half-way mark - it had its doubts about both Mr Manjhi and Mr Kushwaha in the post-poll scenario.

The BJP's top leadership, sources say, worked though the night to arrive at an acceptable seat-sharing formula which involved hectic negotiations with allies.

Eventually, BJP's chief negotiator and union minister Ananth Kumar managed to persuade the allies to scale down their demands and settle for lesser number of seats.

A second meeting between Shah and Manjhi is to happen today. The seat sharing should be sorted out today.

I expect BJP to keep about 155-165 seats for itself. Rest for its allies.

New development:
Rumours say, BJP's Bhupendra Yadav told Manjhi camp to either accept 15 seat+ 5 manjhi candidates on BJPs seat or make your own way.....Also rumours are that Manjhi personally is satisfied with the proposal bit want atleast 3 more seats for ex JDU minister Narendra Singh's kins in Jamui region and Paswan is opposing this.

India TV-Cicero poll says otherwise.

Anyway point is that its a tough battle for both sides as both polls says that difference of vote share among both alliances are less than 3%. Also considering new developments in Bihar polls recently, BJP led alliance is looking more favourite to win.

Will seat sharing be announced today ?

@jha guru kaha ho? Waiting for takes on this epic battle of Bihar.

Will seat sharing be announced today ?
Hopefully yes. Also BJP is expected to drop 20+ of its sitting MLAs because of strong anti incumbency against them. JDU mals are facing even more anti incumbency against them and as they r fighting on a mere 100 seats, things r not looking good for JDU.
