Kaaba-islam-172968_612_689.jpg

We have heard and said it myriad times. Yet given the growing attempts to distort Islam’s humane teachings by some—including by some of its own overzealous followers—its message of peace, love and mercy needs to go out as much as possible – and in unequivocal terms.

The clarion call by Shaikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, the Imam of Grand Mosque and Kaaba in Makkah, urging the world not to be afraid of Islam and Muslims, therefore couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time.

Al Sudais, whose recitation of the Holy Quran is popular across the globe, made the appeal during his Friday sermon delivered at a new mosque in Blackburn, Lancashire (UK) on Saturday, stressing that Islam brings nothing but a message of peace, mercy and tolerance. “Islam came to protect the interests of humanity, prevent evils and build bridges with all communities,” pointed out the Imam urging Muslims to be model citizens and ambassadors of their faith wherever they lived.

“You should be a positive and constructive factor in the community you live and should not involve yourselves in activities that undermine its security and stability,” the Saudi Press Agency quoted Al-Sudais as saying.

We are not sure how many international news agencies picked up or reported Al Sudais’s message and his advice to Muslims around the world. But this is a message that needs to be urgently relayed and carried forward, all over the world. Especially when it comes from one of the most respected religious scholars and figures in the Muslim world.

Islam does not recognise the concept of clergy or certain individuals being given the licence to play the go-between or bridge between God and believers. Yet as the prayer leader of the holiest mosque on the planet and as a religious leader, Shaikh Sudais’s words carry weight and are listened with respect by those in authority as well as by ordinary Muslims.

More important, at a time when the Muslim world faces a clear and present danger in extremist violence and the scourge of suicide bombing, with many dangerously concluding that a lunatic fringe represents the noble faith, it is never too little or too late to present the real face of Islam and Muslims before the world.

A lot of this madness has also been wrongly blamed on the Wahhabi or puritanical version of Islam, born in the modern Saudi Arabia. This is why Al Sudais’s message rejecting all forms of extremism and violence is so welcome.

Indeed, no religious school, however puritanical and conservative, teaches or condones violence. It’s a calumny against Islam. Those born Muslims or living among the believers know this for a fact. But the larger world needs to hear and get this message.

Two years ago during his visit to Pakistan, Shaikh Sudais condemned suicide bombing as ‘haram’ and un-Islamic. He warned potential suicide bombers that they would go “straight to hell.” Obviously, though, Muslims need to do more not just to distance the religion from a morbid, nihilistic cult but also to prevent more young people from going over the edge.

** For Those who don't Know about Imam e Kaaba.

Imam e Kaaba is the Imam (Leader) of the Holiest Mosque The Masjid al Haram and Kaaba in Makkah.

He undoubtedly is the most "Important" scholar for Muslims around the Globe regardless of any sectarianism.

During Lal Mosque Issue he Traveled to Pakistan to Reconcile & reach a deal with Terrorists but he was put down by the Arrogant Lal Mosque Mullah's which Lead to an Operation which still remains Painful for all Pakistanis.

Again a reconfirmation that even the Saudi ulema consider Suicide bombings in all its forms haram which has been consistent since the 1980s.

So does that means that these suicide bombers are not backed by Saudis and other arab countries ,as many of the forum members say that these suicide bombers are backed by saudis???

No aalim is promoting suicide bombing, still we see people blowing up themselves in the name of Islam, what are they dying for ???

Imam Kaba should sort his own home which has funded and caused this stereotyping of Muslims. Yay for hypocrisy!

Well they do have their own twisted logic, but let me tell you that all the arabs that ended up their during the late 90s were fugitives from the governments. Like Bin Laden, Zawahiri e.t.c. Besides religious fundamentalism does not have a very strong correlation with suicide bombings. For example Afghan Taliban hardly indulge in suicide bombings even during the Soviet Afghan war they did not.

This book I think gives a better analysis to why suicide bombings take place. The religious angle is secondary really. A brief is here on Wikipedia but the book is even more interesting of course.

Also there are still a few "ulemas" who were part of the Afghan and Kashmir "Jihad" movement who are reluctant to declare this haram outright and only use selective judgment of saying its haram against Muslims only. But the problem is those who do it don't consider any other Muslim who doesn't follow them as a Muslim. They should come to the mainstream view and declare it haram outright no matter what the case because suicide itself is haram

They are dying for their illiteracy.Coz these monster(talibans) they do the brain washing of those kids.If they are given the Knowledge of Islam then im sure they will repel that brain washing coz then they would be knowing wht actually Islam says about Jihad and Suicide bombing.
