What's new

Biden says it's up to Afghans to run their country as U.S. leaves

Technically 20 trillion USD.. I saw a source few years back citing that there was 20 trillion uncounted that was spend in Afghanistan
why are you always talking nonsense? worst, why are you allowed to?

idiots on web and news channels keep fetching imaginary figures outa their backside. somewhat reminiscent of that handsome's child-like ramblings like "WOT cost Pakistan $150 billion". how? when Pakistan had been squeezed dry by that fat brahman nawaz, had it not been for WOT, Blochistan today would be Sistan, FATA would be islami emirate of waziristan and the rest of the provinces Akhand bharat.

on topic: the US has not made a loss but a net profit. and the knowledge and experience gained is priceless.

According to a Brown University study in 2019, which has looked at war spending in both Afghanistan and Pakistan, the US had spent around $978bn (their estimate also includes money allocated for the 2020 fiscal year)

where’s your study on US making a profit? why leave then?

Biden is 1000% correct on this issue. The Kabul government is dysfunctional, backs terrorists and drug dealers. Kabul security forces are joke. USA wasted far too much resources and time in Afghanistan. :hitwall:

And, think of the hundreds of thousands of young men and women who will live with the depression and trauma, and under medication for the rest of their lives! For them Afganistan, Irak etc. never cease to exist!!!

Brown concluded USA spent 2.3 trillion on this war. Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) determined that billions had been wasted on projects that were not were built or not could be accounted for. They also stated that the true waste figures were much higher then what they listed in their reports. It is not inconceivable that $50 - $100 billion was wasted or simply disappeared.

USA needs to spend at home to strengthen itself. Afghanistan must swim or sink on its own.

If Kabul regime is not ready after 20 years it will never be ready. Kabul regime followed stupid idiotic policies and miscalculated massively. USA can't save every fool. Ghani made his bed, now he must lie in it.

Every soldier who died in Afghanistan, or died as a result of PTSD must sue American Govt and those defense contractors but this is where American justice is exactly like Pakistan or any other third world, no justice against anyone who holds Power.

“ We did not go to Afghanistan to nation-build," Biden said.

So the little bush and Obama have been blatantly lying to American people and the civilized world. That means those dudes were liars. They kept justifying killing scores of innocent Afghans calling them terrorists who opposed American efforts to build Afghanistan into a peaceful, democratic, prosper, and a civilized country. So were those American presidents merely covering their war crimes?

Precisely my thoughts.

for some strange reason now it is being assumed that $978bn DoD expenditure (which includes wages/salaries that would have been paid regardless of war/no war) was done on borrowed money. assuming interest of a whopping 533 billion, then adding unrelated and normal defense budget increase of 443 billion (which would have happened regardless due to many factors like new innovations, then adding vet pensions and costs of all sorts of unrelated matters

China and Pakistan should stay out of this mess. US will not allow any stabilization in the region credited to others

Defend the borders and pursue economic progress instead. No military intervention of any sort.

If China and Pakistan think they can just hide behind their borders and avoid dealing with Afghanistan, that's just delusional. Both of these countries wanted the US out of Afghanistan and now, when the moment has arrived, wants nothing to do with the country.

Sorry, but it's your problem now.

China and Pakistan can definitely show the door towards Kashmir to Talibans. India is the country who ends up zero sum.
