We are no Japan or South Korea I give you that. But as the author is an Indian who thinks his country was created on a much stronger foundation than ours, so how greatly does the present day Pakistan differs from India?

They being the larger economy has only been because of their humongous population, our per capita income is quite similar. We have an ever growing middle class, our cities are bustling with life, we have a professional armed forces, and none of it is of lesser quality than that country with much "stronger" ideological foundation.

And Pakistan is not imploding, far from it, terrorism is on a decline and Baluchistan, well the author has no clue what he is talking about.

The thing is, Indians starting from the Nehru time believed that Pakistan won't last for more than a decade. There were hiccups along the way but after more than 70 years we are still here and kicking. So father of this author can make a BATI of his prediction and give it to his son.

I will consider you successful if you can get this point through his thick head. I love English and for approx. 60% of time I use it for communication, 30% Swedish and 10% Urdu on daily basis but I like all these languages and I don't need to put down one for the other.

I agree that in general Pakistan should have done much better but when compared with india actually we have done better. India inherited much better established resources from the British both in terms of quality and quantity in absolute and relative terms. Pakistan on the other hand to build almost everything from the scratch. Even our capital was made in 1962 while india got an established capital and now compare both cities qualitatively and you will see a day and night difference despite that Isb can still be improved but it has won world's most beautiful capital title while indian capital is mired into slums and over population.

Same goes for every institution from army to education and health. India had a much better start and no one can deny it.
Rather, india didn't give Pakistan its fair share of assets. India inherited four ordinance factories, Pakistan none and today Pakistan's defence expos are more than India's even in absolute terms.

Pakistan's army was so much in shambles in 1947-48 that when Quaid-e-Azam asked the then COAS of Pakistan army to respond indian invasion in Kashmir, he simply refused because he didn't had enough troops. But Today PA is consistently ranked no. 1 army in the world and respected throughout the world for its professionalism and effectiveness.

So in a nutshell Pakistan has not faired bad relative to india though both have faired bad relative to many comparable examples like India relative to China and Pakistan relative to South Korea.

We are here and we will be here but I'm not sure how long india will survive. I just pray and wish that Modi continues for next two terms and we may have to deal with 7-8 countries along our eastern border
