He is not just a counter weight he is a direct threat to US and he is very important in the regional stability. Without him every other nation is against China's interests and he is a good road block for USA.

North Korea at best is an direct annoyance to the US, hardly a threat. People, including politicians, uses the word 'threat' carelessly.

You are correct but it will be foolish for USA to think North Korea is alone. In 1995 we use to hear that North Korea was the 4th strongest nation in the world but gradually that threat changed I agree but there is down side to the USA as there is no available proxy for USA to use in the North Korea. It is difficult to confront Kim directly.

Four is an interesting number, I know in Chinese (at least in Cantonese and Mandarin) as well as Japanese, the number 4 has a similar sound to the word for death.

Fat Kim saw what happened to Saddam and Gaddafi. If he is going to die painfully anyway, then he's going to take down all his enemies with him. There is no loss for him either way.

China already tried to pull North Korea on track using Fat Kim's Uncle, who ended up being fed to the dogs. Now look what happened to Fat Kim's brother who was being harbored by China.

If North Korea collapses he is going to bring down everyone with him. If Saddam and Gaddafi had nukes they would have done the same before their painful end. So unless a replacement can be found, that's not going to happen.

The Trumps aren't exactly the type of administration who are interested in win-win cooperation of any kind.

There WILL be signs of that collapse. Your China would have the latest information and would quietly approaches SKR and the US. In the meantime, SKR and the US would have our own intelligence on the same impending collapse. A nuclear war on the Korean peninsula is the last thing your China want because there is no telling on what Chubby Kim would do. Just as Seoul is in nuclear danger, so is Beijing, after all, Chubby Kim have nothing to lose, right ?

So unless a replacement can be found, that's not going to happen.

Do not be so naive. Your China have alternative plans on what to do with NKR, including formally making NKR a part of China proper. A replacement can be found within the Chinese government.

I guess you have heard what happened to Fat Kim's Uncle and Brother?

Do you think he will let the US torture and kill him like they did to Saddam and Gaddafi. He is not building ICBM's in order to nuke the moon, or Nicaragua, the target has always been the American mainland.

And Trump is not the type of person who would cooperate with China over North Korea. Most likely he will tell us long after he has pushed the situation beyond the brink of no return.

Either China literally take over the country, or let it collapse. Whatever NKR does in the throes of that collapse, both the US and China will deal with the country, up to military solutions. But I doubt that China is going to back any more native NKR-ean candidates.
