Beijing Olympics 2022: Discussion and Update

Openning ceremony was very esoteric theme. Forget the absence of Chinese culture. Whoever planned this ceremony is an Illuminati.

The 6-pointed (in 3D is 8-pointed star) was made up of names of countries is very fitting. That is the geometry of all the stars and suns in the universe. That is also the geometric structure of the planet Earth:

You also find the 6-point star in the heart chakra. I found it very fitting the Olympic torch was placed in the center of the snow flake and around that the kids were making out a heart shape! (The Olympic flame symbolizes the flame of the heart...)

As some1 who studied esoterica for a long time, I find this opening ceremony very illuminating and well thought out.


BTW, just one question, when the dancers dropped the illuminated stars with each country's name onto the floor to form a semi-circle, were they carrying drones that went out and formed a giant circle and then smaller and smaller stars or was that an image projected onto the floor?

I saw the entire opening ceremony, so here's my review of it. I am fan of olympic opening ceremonies, or other sports ceremonies in general. So my personal observation of the ceremony.

1. It started great, the opening sequence was spell binding. The way the used the LED lights representing grass/paddy and snow was just brilliant. After such an opening, my expectations went very high for the next segments. The chinese anthem part was also good.
2. The techno digital sequence was also good. The use of holographic stuff/CGI was nice.
3. watching the various teams come out became boring after sometime. The chinese contingent was great, specially the ladies. Loved the bright red colour and the color of their mask. However disappointed with the colour of gents, totally ruined their colors. The use of snow flakes board for country names was brilliant though.
*** The floor of the stadium was dope, just absolutely mind blowing. ***
4. Disappointed with choice of music during the parade, mostly using western classical music was very boring and unimaginative. Expected some chinese original creation here to mix it up.
5. The techno stuff/light show after the parade was also alright.
6. Then came the speeches, which is the most boring part. Xi was great, spoke for exactly 9 seconds. Looks like he is an efficient dude (just like me!!). I am always happy when people keep their speeches short.
7. Fireworks - you know the drill. Not much to explain.
8. The show started to go downhill after that. "Imagine" again in Olympic ceremony. This was extremely unimaginative from the organizers. This was very unexpected, and I was not thrilled. I think they lost the plot here, had a chance to show something original, something about Chinese culture. Not another boring english song and some more techno stuff which was getting boring by now.
9. Then the olympic anthem - everyone likes cute kids, and I admire their courage to sing in front of an entire world. But that performance was bad. Sorry kids!
10. Then another kid sequence - this was much much better. Loved it..
11. Olympic flame - it was a good sequence. I wonder if the flame is too weak to withstand a high winds. The fire hardly looks visible.

Overall - it was a decent event. Short event, not like previous olympics, understandable in times of pandemic. I kind of expected more considering what China did in 2008 summer Olympics. My expectations from them this time was much higher. High on techno stuff, lots of light play, lots of technology showcased. However they missed showing something about Chinese culture and heritage itself. I felt the 2008 program was much better than this one. This though was better than Tokyo Olympics, which was abysmal.

The director was famous of his design of visual effects. He pulled off the same stunt for Beijing summer Olympics in 2008.

Freeskiing blends the gravity-defying acrobatics of snowboarding with the challenges of alpine racing. The event features the kinds of tricks, jumps and obstacles often seen in skateboarding competitions.

“She is the gold medal favorite,” said Hudak, noting that Gu will compete in three events in Beijing: big air, half-pipe and slopestyle.

“I don’t think anyone is at her level. I can see her getting medals in all three events this year.”

Norway’s Therese Johaug won the race and Austria’s Teresa Stadlober took the bronze.
In the skiathlon event, women race two 7.5-kilometer legs, first using the classical technique and then switching skis to use the freestyle technique.
This is the second Olympic medal for Nepryayeva, 26, who won the bronze in a relay event in Pyeongchang.

On Friday night, as a "big snowflake" symbolizing human unity lifted an environmentally friendly Olympic torch, Beijing, the world's first "double Olympic city," once again welcomed old and new friends from all over the world with open arms within a span of 14 years.

The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, the first major global sports event held as scheduled since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, is of symbolic significance to both China and the world.

As Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out, "history will engrave this stroke."

The water of the Yellow River rushed down, the five Olympic rings broke through the ice, and the snowflakes merged into one... In a romantic story of ice and snow, the opening ceremony once again amazed the world. It refreshes glorious memories of the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and inspires the emotional resonance of mankind to "come together for a shared future."

At the opening ceremony, people saw the poetic scene of "snowflakes as big as a table," and also felt the sentiment of "building a community with a shared future for mankind." Amid changes and a pandemic unseen in a century, the Beijing Games demonstrates the unity and resilience of mankind, and also brings joy and hope to the world.

"The Olympic Games are maybe the most complex event on this planet," International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach once said. "There are a lot of pieces in this huge and very difficult jigsaw puzzle." It can be imagined how difficult it is to organize the Games amid the pandemic.

But China has overcome one difficulty after another and fulfilled its solemn promise to the world. As the Winter Olympics kicks off, 346 million Chinese people have participated in ice and snow sports. China has achieved its goal of engaging 300 million people in winter sports ahead of schedule. Chongli of Hebei Province was still a poor county at the end of 2015, but now it has been lifted out of poverty, with one out of every five local residents making a living out of the "snow industry." Shougang, an old industrial site, has transformed into a new Olympic landmark. "Water Cube" has turned into "Ice Cube," the venue for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games has become a vivid example of reusing the Olympic wealth.

China pledged to hold the Games in a "green, inclusive, open and clean" manner, which enriches the Olympic culture and contributes Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to the world.

February 4 is not only the opening day of the Winter Olympics, but also marks the Chinese solar term "lichun" - beginning of spring, which means the recovery of life on earth and represents rebirth and hope.

There in Greece you have won a total of ZERO - 0 medals from the Winter Olympics for your entire history. Its save to say that Greece is totally irrelevant in terms of Winter sports and Greeks have no interest in it at all.
