China's capital re-institutes virus measures

BEIJING — China has reported 49 new confirmed coronavirus cases as the capital Beijing re-instituted measures to contain a new outbreak.

Of the new cases, 36 were reported Monday in Beijing, traced to a wholesale market that supplies much of the city’s meat and vegetables.

Ten of the other cases were brought from outside the country and three were found in Hebei province just outside Beijing. The National Health Commission reported 177 people in treatment for COVID-19, while 115 were in isolation and under monitoring for showing signs of the illness or having tested positive without giving off symptoms.

China has reported a total of 4,634 deaths from the virus among 83,181 confirmed cases.

Beijing has closed the Xinfadi market, ordered testing of all its workers and is requiring anyone who travelled there to self-isolate for two weeks.

The new cases reported over the weekend mark China’s highest daily total of coronavirus cases in two months, prompting Beijing to suspend the restart of some classes and reverse the relaxation of some social isolation measures.

　　原标题：在疫情防控工作中失职失责！市委常委会研究决定对丰台区有关人员进行调查和处理

　　昨天下午，市委常委会召开会议，研究关于对丰台区有关人员在新冠肺炎疫情防控工作中失职失责问题初步调查和处理的事项。市委书记蔡奇主持会议。

　　6月11日以来，我市连续发现新冠肺炎确诊病例。在确诊病例流行病学调查和大数据溯源中，发现均有北京新发地农产品批发市场活动史或有关人员接触史。6月13日，市纪委市监委成立调查组，针对北京新发地农产品批发市场新冠肺炎疫情防控工作中存在的失职失责问题进行调查。经查，丰台区副区长周宇清、丰台区花乡党委书记王华、新发地农产品批发市场总经理张月琳在疫情防控工作中存在落实“四方责任”不到位、“四早”要求不力、消杀工作不到位等问题。

　　经市委常委会研究，给予周宇清免职处理，按照相关程序办理。此外，经丰台区委常委会研究，给予王华免职处理；责令有关单位免去张月琳新发地农产品批发市场总经理职务。市纪委市监委调查组将继续深入调查，依据调查情况对相关责任人员进行问责处理。

wtf the Chinese are totally overreacting, if you keep on taking extreme measures when ever you find a tiny number of new cases then the economy will never take off, it's just 50-80 new cases, overreacting like that because of that tiny number of infections is not good for the economy, if number of infections in the US would fall to 50-80 per day then Trump would declare it "the biggest most beautifull victory the US has had since WWII, we are winning, USA USA USA".
but seriosuly it's not just the government but even Chinese citizens seem to overreact.
I understand that the Chinese government cares far much more about it's people than any other crappy government in the west but they also need to think of the economy.
