The problem with this imagery is that it is attempting to portray the so-called GWOT (Global War on Terror) as a GWOI (Global War on Islam). This is ridiculous and misleading. If it were a GWOI then there wouldn't be a Mosque standing in the U.S., and Pakistan wouldn't be receiving F-16's, AIM-120's, and other advanced weapons. We would have outlawed Islam in Iraq and installed a "Christian" government. We would not have ties with Turkiye, UAE, Qatar, etc. I could go on forever.

I could easily create a cute Manga/Anime storyboard (if I had any artistic talent whatsoever) about being a Christian or Hindu attempting to live in the KSA. It wouldn't be pretty.

Whatever is being felt by muslims all over the world today is a consequence of them trying their best to detach themselves from the perpetrators of 9/11 and other acts who are still however..from the Muslim mainstream.
Unfortunately, I somehow believe it is a consequence of President Bush's government media outlook of vengeance instead of accountability that resulted in the sudden increase in Islamophobia. This provided the fuel to a fire that burned quietly in many muslims regarding the Palestinian issue, and what was usually a condemnation of American policies regarding that issue has now turned into general hatred of the American Nation.
Had the Bush administration kept a stern outlook at home, and consulted with its own Muslim population..consulted with Muslim nations, and asked them how to best show that this war is on terrorists using the name of Islam, and we don't want it to even feel like its against all those who prostrate before the Kaaba, so please, how do we go about this and we will go about achieving our objectives but we wish to avoid any outlook of an attack on Islam. There may still have been hatred against America, and there may still be bigotry against Islam, but not on the scale we see today.

And the simple reason why mosques stand in America today is a testament to the tolerance of the American people. And generally, 9/11 was a blessing in disguise for Islam in America.. Muslims in that country were suddenly united and conversions to Islam increased.

No not really my friend don't judge us that way its just our POV.

You cannot really blame others for that because most terrorists call there blood bath of innocent civilians as a "holy war".

Terrorists are called as freedom fighters.

They are brain washed as soldiers fighting for Islam and Allah.

They talk of being protectors of Islam and how the god wants them to go on an endless jihad.

I have not read Qur’an but i certainly know its one of those really misinterpreted holy books by people who call themselves as freedom fighters.

In Indian schools or most of those schools in Cities ban any show of religion. like wearing a head scarf and keeping tilak etc. Especially in the school i studied in. And all are insisted to wear a common uniform.

I liked it a lot because we never really cared if the person next to me was a Hindu or a Muslim or a christian all we cared abt is nothing just have fun make friend play volley ball.

Nice days so in a way there should be total ban of any religious symbolism in places of education

I see where you're going with this. You will be hard pressed to find any scholars around the world (except, maybe, in India) who will argue that those fighting occupying forces in Kashmir and Palestine are not freedom fighters and are in the wrong.

These are two causes on which there is pretty much unanimous consensus amongst Muslim Muftis throughout the World.

I hate it when people try to pass conformism and uniformity for equality. You wish to deny education to anyone who believes that their religious preferences should be tolerated. You don't emphasize that everyone should enjoy equal opportunities to express their beliefs, but rather, you would prefer if everyone was exactly the same. If this is your definition of equality, then either communism or national socialism serves the best type of governing system in India (USSR or Nazi Germany, that is), since they emphasized so much on the fact that every single person should be exactly the same.

True diversity and equality would be if students were allowed to wear religious symbols, but still worked together regardless. I see it every day at my University. The guy I'm assigned to work with in a lab could be wearing a Sikh pagdi or Jewish hat while I'm in shalwar-kameez and we wouldn't care much. We'd work together for the lab and exchange numbers to communicate later on if needed.

Many of those newspaper headlines are definitely unfair, but some of them use the word "Muslim" to place a context to the particular crime, often some sort of honor killing.

That poster above... the Pakistani line is absolutely photoshopped, added in, and it makes it 10X worse than it is. They had to have a picture of someone.

I am a commercial pilot in the U.S., and work out of one of the largest airports in the world. There are a significant number of Muslims who work at the security portals... many of them are women observing Hijab. These are the uniformed people screening passengers getting on our airplanes. They would not be in such a sensitive position of authority if the system was unfair. And rest assured, everyone gets the same scrutiny. White grandmothers in wheelchairs get the same attention as young males who "look middle-eastern."

I have seen a lot of overseas news articles that try to make it appear that Muslims are being abused in the U.S., and it is simply not true, but many believe this, and it fits right in with the agenda of extremists - they are trying to make it a religious world war, or "America is at war with Islam." It is simply untrue.

I can vouch for that because I've been down to the US, but only down as far as Washington and as East as New York. Beyond that, in some of the Southern states, things change drastically. I've relatives who relate some horror stories. But then, you can't generalize.

But you can't talk about critical topics concerning Muslims such as, say, Jihad or the legitimacy of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. You can't comment on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict freely, you can't discuss the Kashmir issue, and so on. Muslim student groups have to face strong criticism to even show documentaries produced by Western news networks on the Israeli issue.

Muslim establishments, Islamic scholars, groups etc. have to be very careful what they choose to speak about, lest they be banned. I've personally met religious leaders of other religions in Toronto who preach Islamophobia (one Sikh teacher clearly said don't go to Muslim shops, don't buy Halal products, don't donate to Islamic charities etc, and got away with it) However, if a Muslim scholar were to even comment on, for example, the illegitimacy of the Afghanistan war, he'd be in trouble. The "support our troops" bandwagon would roll into town the very next day and make sure the scholar was banned and, if possible, deported. And remember, this is Toronto, probably the most tolerant city in the World.

So no, it's not all rosy as you'd like to paint it. But yeah, we do enjoy quite a bit of freedom here.
