BD exports to India in Q1 of FY23 boom

He has a point - India is the global power in IT - but it's strange that it is has never produced a blockbuster app.

In a way, I think it's the right approach - let other nations risk their capital to develop the next dream project, but India always gets paid to make it.

But it means the big bucks are made by the likes of China.

The reason for this thread is to destroy the troll argument that India is unfairly putting up barriers to BD exports.

Last fiscal BD exported 2 billion US dollars to India and this fiscal we are likely to see well in excess of 3 billion US dollars even at this time of global recession.

BD and Indian economies will be growing at 6%+ and these two countries will over the coming decades become one of the most important economic growth engines in the world.

India and BD will prosper together in a mutually beneficial trade partnership.

Do you want your export to grow against an economy that is growing at 6% or the EU and Japanese economy that are in recession?

Even a Dhakaya “academic” can answer that one correctly unless they are wearing BNP branded spectacles 🤣🤣🤣🤣🦜🦜🦜

I did not think that India could become the No. 1 export destination for BD by 2030 but now I think that might be a real possibility.

Exports of BD garments and home electronics can by themselves each become many billions of dollars a year by then.

Like I said, even Hinduvta India has realised that only fair and free trade with BD can help them to develop as otherwise W. Bengal and the NE States are likely to remain backward forever.

But India should be doing better - if China can do it, so should India. For BD the comparison would be Vietnam or Turkey - none have a renowned fashion brand.

You are all saying why hasn't it done it already ? You lot have been singing hosanas about Bangladesh electronics . Why hasnt Bangladesh created several fabs ?? Why are you importing surface mount components and not making them already ? Why arent you producing discrete transistors or capacitors and resistors already ???
I am saying these things have to have economic and technological precursor. That precursor is deepening in India.
India is incubating 20-30 Unicorns EVERY YEAR.
One or two will eventually become Global brands with a global market and reach.
ITS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THIS BECOMES A REALITY. THE IDEA THIS SHOULD BE NOW DO NOT EVEN HAVE THE SIMPLEST COMPREHENSION OF HOW GLOBAL COMPANIES EMERGE.

India is INCUBATING AROUND 20-30 UNICORNS A YEAR.

India’s IT dreams have significant risks. When western companies sell tech products, they gather information and retain it. They are okay if India is part of it but only if they are compliant. When India will start to become more of a threat to western enterprises, they will get locked out like Huawei in China. This is because no country that can wants information from their country to go abroad. Western companies have a first mover advantage. But rest of us dont. That means will only be able to service their own market. So yes dream big but consider not putting all your future eggs in IT basket.

Remember, I made that prediction and you pooh-poohed it 🤣🤣🤣

I think by 2030, India will export 50-60 billion to BD and BD will export 10-12 billion.

Let’s hitch a ride with a growing India instead of the dying west and Japan.

US/Canada is still growing and a good market.

Dude!

Our first 25 years was spent getting a divorce.

And brits didn’t leave us anything. Whereas you had the Tatas and Birlas.

It’s a miracle we are where we are given the dearth of natural resources and population etc

The FANGS get their core work done in London and US.

India is used for maintenance and incremental features.

The world's slowest incubator. 20-30 unicorns a year? You have been a leading provider in IT for 20 years plus - where are these
unicorns?? However you try to paint it, India has failed to reach its potential.

Bangladesh on the other hand, by every account is a not even an embryo in world tech. We just got out of GSP status. Let's be realistic with our expectations here.

Then you are not following what is taking place in India. Laws are being changed to ensure ALL DATA collected in India is retained IN INDIAN DATA CENTERS WITH CONTROL OF DATA RETAINED IN INDIA. Companies like Amazon Facebook etc will have to comply or leave India. We are the market and we dictate what happens to data of 1.2 Billion people.
And brits didn’t leave us anything. Whereas you had the Tatas and Birlas.

The Brits didnt leave us TATA or BIRLAS. These men clawed thier way up in spite of the Brits. For example Jamshedbhai Tata was refused by the brits for several decades to setup a steel mill , he was in despair and it took many years before he could override the résistance of British Steelmakers who wanted to monopolise steel consumption in India in a captive market.
Pakistan too had its entrepreneur's and industrialist's . We destroyed ours with 50 years of socialist ideology and Pakistan with its Islamic fantasies.

India and Bangladesh have a good trade relationship , let a thousand flowers bloom.

British obviously didn’t hamper the TATAS and Birlas too much…

As I said, we had nothing…

Anyway, as you said, let’s look forward. And maybe Pakistan can also join - which would make South Asia the centre of global economy in the next century.

Let’s make sure Hinduvta doesn’t f*ck up India the way Wahhabism f*cked up Pakistan.

Organised religion is a curse. Stay away from it.

Ok, you were right there I admit. :p:

I am not sure whether India can export that much to BD by 2030 as a 40 billion US dollar trade deficit with India will not be either desireable or possible. More likely that BD will export 10-12 billion to India as you say and probably import around the 30 billion US dollar mark.

Remember that Indian exports to BD have already reached near saturation point and they will find it hard to displace Chinese manufactured goods and machinery in the BD market anytime soon.

Apart from garments, watch out for BD home electronics as Indian consumers will have access to extremely competitive products from the likes of Walton. They will get quality products but cheaper than the likes of even buying a "Made in India" MNC brand like Samsung or LG.

.
BD could easily hit the 10 billion US dollars of exports to India way before 2030 if this growth rate continues for some more years.

"From India, Bangladesh bagged $306.39 million in the Q1 of FY22-23, registering a growth of 66.20% from $184.34 million in July-September of the last fiscal year."

"According to the country-wise detailed apparel export data of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), the apparel export of Bangladesh was $10.27 billion, fetching a growth of 13.41%, from $9.05 billion in July-September of FY22."

@SoulSpokesman
@BananaRepublicUK
@PadmaBridge
What is BD exporting, virgins?

Fair point but it is pointless to argue about how much of an advantage that India had over BD.

What is certain is that BD came from almost nothing in 1971 and hence the main reason why it still only has a per capita of 3K a year.

It's major advantage over India is that it is a single ethnic state, whereas India has done well to build a relatively stable nation out of so many different ethnic groups.

Let BD and India compete now on who can get the fastest growth rates in the world and show how mutually beneficial trade relationships can lift the region from 3rd world status to "middle-income" by the early 2030s. We can also lift Nepal and Bhutan up along with us.

The trolls from both BD and India are being sidelined, being shown to be cranks and they cannot stop or even impede the relationship flourishing over the coming decades.
