This A team is ideal

"We are happy that we could pick a proper and ideal team this time. I say that because we chose the players we wanted. We also want to see how they respond at the next level after domestic cricket. We consider players like Mosaddek Hossain and Sadman Islam as our future prospects and they showed their ability in the under-19 level and domestic circuits. Now they have to prove that they are equally good in different conditions," explained Bashar.

"On the other hand, we have some plans with Soumya Sarkar and Liton Das and we also want to see how they face the challenge away from home. Mahmudul Hasan, Mohammad Mithun and Sabbir Hossain are all in contention for national selection. We formed a team which is standing between domestic level and the national team, so it's a perfect A team which we hope will serve the purpose of the national side. It was a long-cherished dream for us to form a genuine A team and we did it this time," he continued.

Bashar also explained the reason behind the selection of pacer Mohammad Shahid, who established his position in the Test team through his disciplined bowling effort.

"Look we did not pick players like Anamul Haque because we saw them in different conditions, but we still selected Shahid and Al-Amin Hossain because pace bowling is our weak link. Shahid did well in home conditions but we want to see how he bowls in different conditions. We picked up Al-Amin because we need backup pacers since Rubel Hossain and Shafiul Islam are injured," he said.

Bashar said that they were not in a position to look back at some of the older former national players because the younger players are pushing hard to reach the next level. "You can see how the younger players are taking the opportunity, so the out-of-favours must do something special to outshine them," he concluded.

Liton Das was a bad choice for the National team. Anamul Haque should have had his place.

His ODI strike rate is 70! That's no way a bad one.
70 is not good strike rate. even Mahmudullah has about 74 strike rate which we consider slow but sometimes it justifies him as he come to rebuild situation, you need around 80 strike rate at least in ODI

So, drop Tamim I guess! After all, you stated that a minimum of 80 is needed and Tamim doesn't qualify for that.

Tamim has 78. Maybe time to drop him! Mushfiq has 75.
Tamim has ok strike rate. Mushfiqur's strike rate is above 100 in last 2 years, he moved strike rate from about 63 to 75 in 3 years, started from 2012 match against Australia.
again as i said, you have no clue whatsoever.

BTW, Mahmudullah's current strike-rate is 73. But his last year or 2 has been better. Annamul on the other hand has only played 34 games. Give him some time and his strike-rate will improve. His average is a very respectable 34+.

problem with Anamul can only fit in opener position but he is slow. if he starts slow that put lots of pressure on team, this is where Soumya's play has come into scene. we can't play him as middle order as we have stable middle order. we can't even play him as hitter in 6 or 7th place, as he is not big hitter. Soumya and Liton can play these positions as well as opener.

With Tamim's form, I would rather use him. And since Soumya likes to be a big-hitter, he can act as the sensible one, which Tamim isn't.
