BBC Stream: Padma Bridge free benefits to Indian traders, why it was built in the first place

Indian trucks cannot get in now, but believe me they soon will.

Indians won't be happy until they get that from Hasina too.

She will capitulate.

The fee is almost nothing - while we spent tens of billion dollars building road infra ($4 Billion for Padma Bridge alone).

That was always the plan, open up Bangladesh by placing a compliant govt. in place and make all of NE states accessible via Bangladesh road infra, which is superior to Indian infra any day. And use it for almost nothing !
Hmmmmm

.
Fact.

Northeast is likely not gonna develop they way that transit will be lucrative.

take the example of Switzerland, and you have a country that facilitate road transit between north europe and south europe.

BD can earn big buck if she can facilitate transit between the subcontinent and China-SEA.

Bhai - your dream of earning big bucks by providing Indians transit is a castle in the sky.

Making money from Kanjoos Indian Banyas - good luck !

They promise the moon and the sky which in reality becomes nothing.

Waste of time and money doing business with these sotolog low class people.

@Species bhai some of the new Bangladeshi PDF members don't know the true nature of Indian Banyas.

The fifth columnist Bangladeshis so intently supporting Indian transit are all pa-chata Indian chamchas. Probably false-flaggers.

Providing transit to India will be shooting ourselves in our own feet.

The NE will remain a backwater support hinterland for industrializing Bangladesh. Things like clinker, lumber, coal, other minerals which we can process and add value with.

We don't serve our future trade/industrial interests by providing transit to India. THINK !!

Too many false-flaggers in the Bangladesh forum shilling for India !!

We will be helping India improve its connectivity and economy, free of cost and at the detriment to our economy.

Thanks Hasina!! And Thanks to Indian agent and fifth-columnist AL cabinet member (Commerce Minister) Tipu Munshi as well, for opening our market wide open for tariff free Indian FMCG and consumer goods imports.

Culmination of a grand plan as planned in 1952 by Indian agents and Pa-chata Indian Golams in Bangladesh, to make Bangladesh a complete province under India.

Your assessment is correct but conclusion is not.

The only way Bangladesh can keep US, Russia, China and India at equidistance - is if BD is useful to all of them.

Otherwise they are powerful enough to wreak havoc with Bangladesh’s economy.

Bangladesh will not be in a position to really assert itself until it’s GDP reaches a trillion dollars.

Sorry I am a layman, I knew Indian trucks cant getinto Bangladesh but their containers or products get transfered to bangladeshi trucks. Please correct me if i am wrong.
Yes you are correct. Right now we have transshipment in place. Indian trucks can't get in Bangladesh highway, at least not yet. For instance at Benapol border, they transfer goods to Bangladeshi trucks at the border and then the same thing happens when they reach the other end at Akhaura. They transfer the goods back again to Indian trucks.

Currently Indian trucks pay a very low (or none at all??) fee to transit through Bangladesh

At the very least because of the toll in Padma Bridge, Bangladesh will be able to charge something more to these Indian trucks.

The train fare for Indian nationals should also incorporate these fees in their tickets. I am not sure if they already do. If they want to save time, they need to pay the premium. Fair transaction. But apparently the Indian nationals don't want to pay the premium -

Passengers deterred by higher fares; cargo handlers by procedural hassles, longer travel time

The Bangladesh government’s decision to allow India use of its territory for transit of cargo and passengers to the North East may be seen as a major concession in Bangladesh. But Indian users are showing little interest to avail themselves of the facility.
The Korean toll collectors must be given order to increase tolls for Indian vehicles.

However, the issue is the railway transportation of Indian goods and spies from Darshana to somewhere near Daulatpur to Padma bridge to Akhaura to Agartala.

The railway line is being built with 30,000 crore Taka to connect Indian west with the east while BD suffers with Farakka and Teesta.

I expect less road traffic by the miser Kolkatawalas and more goods transports. Indian east will now develop with BD spending billions of dollars on the infrastructures.

Jay miser Hind!!! Where is @Protest_again ?

I agree that South Bengal people will get benefitted of course, with their food products and produce getting to Dhaka and points beyond for consumption, and EPZs also helping but Indian impetus and instruction to Hasina for linking Kolkata and Agartala was in no doubt a huge factor.

This is something that Indians want and they will NOT spend any money for it - now or ever. They think they rightly deserve it. Their govt. organization BSNL still owe Bangladesh many tens of millions for overdue bandwidth charges. Good luck getting money from Sanghis.

The entire long-term Sanghi plan is to destroy Bangladesh as a Muslim entity economically, feather-smoothing Indian talk to the contrary by either their FM or here at PDF....

We get happy just because India let us export 2 Billions to their market last year, which is a drop in the bucket for their market. If fairness was an Indian principle, our trade gap would be non-existent.

Hasina works to help Indian govt. and economy - not that of Bangladesh. Every Bangladeshi security apparatus and decision making organs for tariff policies (Trade, Commerce, Food, Industry ministries) is infiltrated by Indian-controlled agents and RAW operatives. India made sure of that. They ask us to lower tariffs on whatever they want to export and we Bangladeshi d*mbf*cks comply.

I heard from an army friend of mine that the Imam of a mosque in the Dhaka cantonment was caught relaying logistics messages to India via SSB transmitter, and this was twenty years ago. People heard him talking in hushed Hindi. Full beard, topi and alkhalla, product of a supposed Madrassah. Turns out by looking in his underwear, they found out he was a Hindu.

They don't even need to go that far anymore. They got Hasina by the cajones.

It is a massive win for India, to control this woman who is the number one decision maker in Bangladesh. They don't need RAW agents, all they have to do is control this woman, she will use RAB, Police and all govt. ministries to help India day and night.
Yes, you are right in all the points. However, the honeymoon may not extend beyond the next general election if held fairly. Just a little patience please!!!

Solution is to impose costs on Indians to use such infrastructure or deny outright if it anyway detrimental to the interests of BD, not remaining at pre-modern ages by shunning modern infrastructure. Just because India may get benefits, we can not deprives our millions of citizen a smooth, comfortable journey across Padma. Those who used to spend 10-12 hours waiting for ferry at Mawa-Jajira ghat or Paturia-Daulatdia ghat can only understand what Padma bridge means to the people of the South Bengal. Leaving aside from economic opportunities which will unlock this bridge, their sufferings is an enough reason to build this Padma bridge.
Absolutely, BD's infrastructure should bring revenue to BD. If India uses it, it needs to pay for it.

Let's see the fate of this bridge in the future. INDIA will work for betterment of its people. LUNGIS should do the same.

More important will be to razor-wire all border points and shut down the travel of our idiots to India for medical and tourist "needs".
In return India stops any possibility of Bangladesh importing electricity from Nepal or Bhutan and Indian navy randomly sinking Bangladeshi or Bangladesh bound ships and boats. Also India denying any aircraft inbound or outbound from Bangladesh from its territory. Fun, it will be, right?

You're taking this too far.

Opening a few barrage gates is more than enough.
