I don't think we need that kind of sectarianism within immigrants in the UK, I've got no problem at all with the vast majority of Indians here, plenty of them are perfectly good people, I've seen my fair share of those like these presenters too.



Try not to get caught up in the irrelevant technicalities of it, point is they made some sort of bigoted remarks and that too for one of the demographics for which the radio station is for, they've been named and suspended for a reason.

It already exists. TBH I am 38 years old and have lived in London all my life. Have met many indians and NOT once did I feel any connection or that I had any similarities with them whatsoever. Point is that we ARE FUNDAMENTALLY very different to indians in EVERY way. Just becuase white people can't tell the difference and bunches us as one group (namely "Asian") is completely irrelevant. Most White people also can't tell the diffrence between a Pakistani, Iranian, Turk, Arab, Brazilian or Columbian. Are they "Asian" too?

PS The new generation of Pakistanis in the UK have very little in common with indians and there is virtually no mixing with them. In fact there is more intermarrying and mixing between young Pakistanis and other Muslim groups. That's the trend for the new generation.

Sectarianism suggests a religiois sect. We are talking here about nationality which is entirely differant issue. At one level if your purist and want to stress the unitary concept of UK then we are all "British" period. Nothing else should be given any importantance or label. If you however do want to take a more nuanced reflection of the multi-ethnic groups in UK as tagged in National Census category then it should be "Indian" or "Pakistani". This defence site is neither titled "Muslim Def" nor "Asian Def" but "Pak def" and that is the exact clear category we should be pushing for.

Sectarianism I used for lack of a better word, I do feel that whatever differences we have ought not to be highlighted too much while we live here, in this case it's the Indian presenter at fault. I just don't see any sense in wanting a BBC Pakistani radio, and one for Indians etc.
