Battle of Asal Uttar - 56 years ago

You were able to pull off a strategic surprise. PA wasn't even occupying its defensive lines in force when you invaded across the IB. You could gain territory initially but were grossly unable to meet your war objectives, i.e., your armies leading 3 pronged invasions linking up near Gujranwala. The Lahore prong couldn't even move past the suburbs of Lahore. Sialkot prong was stopped in the same sector. PA actually ended up invading and capturing Indian territory across the IB, even though you had clearly surprised us. You could continue feeling proud about ending a war you had a clear advantage in with a stalemate against a 4-5 times smaller foe. On the other hand, the entire 62 war with the Chinese was fought on Indian territory, with you losing a territory the size of Switzerland to the Chinese (Aksai Chin) without capturing a single sq inch from the Chinese. Mentioning this contrast is important to put things into perspective vis a vis that pride.

Then whose fault was that.... You were so overconfident with cutting edge American weapons in 65 that you made your plans to have dinner in delhi and didn't keep PA on defensive lines.... India just did what any professional army would do.... Not our fault.... Bottom line is that war ended with more score in India favor.....
Can you please enlighten us, what was the reason for pakistan agreed for ceasefire 65war?

Otherwise we would have prolonged our stay inside Pakistan mainland....

Dinner in Dehli? Where has this ever been claimed? Pakistan did not have any expansionist aims other than its rightful claim on Kashmir. This is hyperbole. You in fact did dream about supping at Lahore gymkhana in the evening. Could not move past the suburbs in 21 days of fighting.

Incorrect. on the second part as well. Shastri was counseled by Indian CnC to accept the ceasefire being brokered by the Soviets as the Indian army was running low on war stocks (it was not). Secondly, you make it as if only you were in possession of Pakistani territory without realizing that a 4-5 times smaller country was in possession of (at least) hundreds of sq km of your territory as well.

Looking at comments here by some delusional Indians, One can easily understand why the legendary Guardian correspondent, Clare Hollingworth concluded this about Indian propaganda in 1965 war

Indian Defence Minister Y B. Chavan is trying to outdo Goebbels in propaganda war. Many politicians are disappointed by Chavan's account of military operations.

Well India did not start 65 war, India's objective was defend boarder. Ceasefire does that.
What was pakistan objective for 65 war? does ceasefire achieve pak objective?
Your unprovoked skirmish in the rann of kutch?

As for ceasefire, our objective was to liberate kashmir and defend pakistan. As you said... Ceasefire achieves that.

Also rip your objective of capturing sindh, lahore and sialkot

I never said only we were in the possession of your territory.... If you read my earlier posts you will see I said war might be a stalemate but India's score on battlefield was huge compared to Pak.... If we compare the size of victory then India victory size will be bigger....

That too when India was not well equipped and just 3 years back tasted a defeat in fight with China and moral was really low....

Pakistan on the other hand was like a pampered child of USA with hi-tech weapons in hand..... For an example first 155 mm artillery India could brought in service in 80s in the form of boforse guns wheras Pakistan was using 155 mm artillery since 60s....

. . . .
You pushed past the IB and out right declared war.... So yes. You did
From your replies, Here is the chronology
- Pakistan started 1965 war to librate Kashmir
- Pakistan thought that war will be limited to kashmir
- India opened new front in IB to attack the Lahore, Sindhi
- Pakistan defended Lahore by accepting ceasefire
Pakistan objective achieved as per Huffal.

You have comprehension issues.

I never said pakistan started the war. I said india did by the unprovoked skirmish in the rann of kutch and also pushing past the IB. This prompted us to liberate kashmir which didnt happen in that time frame of the 65 war.

India on the otherhand had objectives of lahore, sialkot and sindh of which neither of those objectives were achieved as per harbaksh singh.

If we wanna claim victory then its a Pakistani victory considering how it was India that made the more mistakes and also losses.
