Su-57 fighter jet

Barred from the Farnborough Air show starting 16 July, Russia has chosen the Army 2018 event to be held in August near Moscow to mark global public debut of its Su-57 fifth generation fighter jet.

The Russian MoD announced on their website Tuesday that the Su-57 along with the Su-30SM and the Su-35 would be on display at the Army 2018.

Russian defence firms such as Rostec, Rosoboronexport and United Aircraft Corporation have been barred from doing business by the United States, United Kingdom and the European Union over its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 and support for separatist rebels fighting in eastern Ukraine.

Russian armament firms have selected Farnborough or the Paris Air Show to show off their latest aviation technology. The Su-30 and Su-35 both featured in one or the other event in the past.

The Su-57 is Russia's answer to the US F-35 and is in the middle of prototype testing. Many details about the aircraft are not known yet and its public display would help to throw light on the technologies that have gone to build the most modern Russian fighter aircraft yet.

The Su-57 pilots will get a new anti-gravity suits from 2019. They are ready for flight tests and will reportedly be delivered from 2019. The first prototypes of suits have already undergone tests on a centrifuge with test persons. During the plane’s maneuvers, the G-suit prevents the drain of blood from the brain to the abdomen and the legs.

Currently, the first stage engine 117S is mounted on the Russian fighter.

A new engine has not yet received its name and is conventionally designated as the second stage engine.

It was reported in August last year that Russia’s T-50 (PAK FA) fifth-generation fighter jet had received the serial index of Su-57. The experimental design work on the most advanced fighter jet should be completed in 2019 and its deliveries to the troops should begin at that time. As United Aircraft Corporation CEO Slyusar said, the pre-production batch will consist of 12 such planes.

Yep, some fake news reporter from 'Business Insider' got butthurt because of bad news that Russia is starting mass-production of Su-57. He got so butthurt that had to turn the news of 'starting mass production' into 'cancelling mass production'.

IS IT TRUE su57 IS GETTING CANCELLED

IS IT TRUE su57 IS GETTING CANCELLED
Of course, it is fake. It can not be cancelled in principle, it is impossible. You will read such articles in dozens in coming years - "Armata cancelled", "Kurganets cancelled", "Kalashnikov cancelled" and so on. Stupid fakes for stupid people.

That is a total hit piece by someone who knows nothing about aviation , military or the program.
I know something about aviation and the military. Veteran USAF F-111 (Cold War) and F-16 (Desert Storm). Will I do?

The Russians can spin it any way it they want, but the Su-57 program is at least stalled, and the longer it is stalled, institutional inertia is no different than physical inertia, that it will take greater efforts to resume any progress.

Institutions do not like idle money. Same with people -- they cannot be doing nothing. Any project, technological or else, that is not productive will be cancelled at some time down the line. When people inside said stalled program perceives, wrongly or correctly, that the project is in danger of being cancelled, especially when funding is euphemistically said to be 'under review', intellectual productivity drops. Why should they care?

Military projects have a very limited clientele -- the government. It does not matter if it is domestic or foreign, it is still only 'the government'. With a military oriented project, the maker cannot sell his wares to other governments at will. He needs approval from the domestic government and his sales will be tightly controlled. So that still make it only 'the government' as the only client.

I will go out on a limb and say that the the -57 project is essentially -- dead.

Nothing is cancelled, nothing is “dead”. It still amazes me that people take journalists from tabloids seriously. Russia has spend too much money and too many years on the project to cancel it, and eventually Russia will need to a replacement for its legacy aircraft. It still also amazes me people believe Russia will order only 12 units, hense the hysteria over the program, little do most people know is that Russia generally orders most aircraft in those batches.

Putin himself is pushing for the military to receive new weapons with the SU-57 being one of the top priority. The SU-57 was recently in Syria being tested, and flying combat missions in which it conducted strike using long range cruise missiles. Is there anything media has claimed that wasn’t canceled?

The media has been reported for years that Russia has no money, Russia uses ancient equipment and Russia can’t produce anything new. When in reality Russia has spent hundreds of billions of dollars on new equipment and has produced more modern military equipment then just about anyone. Russia has built replacements for everything of Soviet stock, in some cases several replacements.
