Su-57 fighter jet
Barred from the Farnborough Air show starting 16 July, Russia has chosen the Army 2018 event to be held in August near Moscow to mark global public debut of its Su-57 fifth generation fighter jet.
The Russian MoD announced on their website Tuesday that the Su-57 along with the Su-30SM and the Su-35 would be on display at the Army 2018.
Russian defence firms such as Rostec, Rosoboronexport and United Aircraft Corporation have been barred from doing business by the United States, United Kingdom and the European Union over its annexation of Crimea from Ukraine in 2014 and support for separatist rebels fighting in eastern Ukraine.
Russian armament firms have selected Farnborough or the Paris Air Show to show off their latest aviation technology. The Su-30 and Su-35 both featured in one or the other event in the past.
The Su-57 is Russia's answer to the US F-35 and is in the middle of prototype testing. Many details about the aircraft are not known yet and its public display would help to throw light on the technologies that have gone to build the most modern Russian fighter aircraft yet.
The Su-57 pilots will get a new anti-gravity suits from 2019. They are ready for flight tests and will reportedly be delivered from 2019. The first prototypes of suits have already undergone tests on a centrifuge with test persons. During the plane’s maneuvers, the G-suit prevents the drain of blood from the brain to the abdomen and the legs.
Currently, the first stage engine 117S is mounted on the Russian fighter.
A new engine has not yet received its name and is conventionally designated as the second stage engine.
It was reported in August last year that Russia’s T-50 (PAK FA) fifth-generation fighter jet had received the serial index of Su-57. The experimental design work on the most advanced fighter jet should be completed in 2019 and its deliveries to the troops should begin at that time. As United Aircraft Corporation CEO Slyusar said, the pre-production batch will consist of 12 such planes.
