Total number of Bangladeshi tourists visiting India crossed the 1.6-million mark in the first 10 months of the current calendar year.

Statistics available with the India tourism ministry showed that some 1.62 million Bangladeshi tourists visited the country during the January-October period of 2017.

Total number of Bangladeshi tourists visting India last year was 1.37 million.

Indian authority earlier projected that at least 1.7 million Bangladeshi tourists would visit India in the current year.

But the current trend indicates that the total number of Bangladesh tourists in India will be much higher than it was projected.

In the month of September, 0.21 million Bangladeshi tourists visited India, which is the highest in any single month so far.

The very flexible visa system along with relaxed entry and exit facilities drive more Bangladeshi people to visit India frequently.

Besides road and air, people can now visit by rail. Despite increase in rail fare, demand for Moitree express tickets is high now.

A large portion of Bangladeshi tourists actually visit India for medical treatment and their number is also growing.

Bangladeshi tourists have already outnumbered American and British tourists, who are now respectively the second and the third highest in India.

Stop coming to our country, kthxbai. Get your medical treatment in Myanmar or china.

Its fine, these ppl are returning back after spending their hard earned income in India on things BD really should be able to provide in first place (if they are serious about not being LDC and thinking nominal USD per capita means everything).

The number and how its growing is the biggest slap of those claiming this and that about BD health/life expectancy according to BBS....just like the economist liveability index regarding Dhaka (taking note of its actual on the ground health, sanitation, education etc compared to BBS claim)

Long may BBS perpetuate its delusion on BD "elite", it brings real forex to India on the ground....and thats really what matters in the end.

They are literally selling land to be able to afford an actual doctor in India, compared to the likes of the claimed resident quack doctors like homo sapiens in this subforum who probably shouldn't be trusted with a first aid kit. Regular BD people are just wising up to how bad and incompetent their "elite" are. India wins in the end as usual....along with the regular BD people who have no other choice.

Take Mustafijure Rahman, for instance. A Bangladeshi citizen, he came to Kolkata with high-value denominations. On Wednesday the brother-sister duo queued for four hours before leaving with some money. They’ll need to go back again on Saturday when some tests are scheduled. “We come to India for treatment because we know that here the quality of medication and treatment is far superior to Dhaka. It’s more expensive, but it’s a matter of life and death. We sold land to come here, and now that money has been rendered useless,” he said.

BD tourists in India are making Indians happy. It gives the poor Indians the opportunity to earn money from our over-spending people. Now, use this opportunity to raise your living standard. By the way, did not you guys find that these so-called tourists will start living in your world famous slums in Bombay. After all it is the movie Capital.

The problem is they aren't. As soon as they get treated they flee into the slums instead of living in banglerdash. That's how said their country is when the slums of Calcutta and Bombay are better than life in the Worldclass™ dacca.

Nah the tourist/medical visa ones return to BD, there is a screening process for these types in first place....given there is clear log of BD passports in say interpol database and so on that cannot be tampered by BD afterwards. Paper trail of say when a BD person enters with passport/visa gets flagged (and instructions issued to law enforcement) when they do not exit India....this goes for any 2 countries generally (it is only voided when there is no border control for Citizens to begin with like say India and Nepal).

Each strike like this would build up as % of the throughfare and it will prompt response by the host country if the trend is to that of abuse. Clearly it hasnt happened i.e if there was any major problem of overstay/permanent illegal stay etc, India would have shut down the process instead of improving it.

The illegals from BD dont even bother with visa route in first place because it would end up exposing their networks and relatives to much higher degree for little to no benefit.

BD illegals use land routes and people smugglers etc, completely outside the official and monitored transit system of passports etc....and then use forging/identity theft cartels etc within India (aided officially in some state like W. Bengal) when they set up shop in the border states. The illegals dont bother with passports and visas, because that will actually probably end up hurting them because of the paper trail it leaves in the databases well above illegal cartel capability. Basically wasted money for them they would rather use in bypassing altogether.

Keep your LDC gareeb money to yourself. We don't want money from beggars, it's not a good look.
Sometimes it looks like you really like trolling. I have no idea what's your problem!
Ok fine we are gareeb, but are indians really rich?

Sure...

Just a week back I saw a report of a Bangladeshi couple visiting a hospital in Trivadrum, Kerala for an operation of their baby. With 100% expenses paid by some charity org...

And here we have delusional Bangladeshis is claiming that they are some sort of affluent people.

By the way, did not you guys find that these so-called tourists will start living in your world famous slums in Bombay

For them it is heaven compared to the huge least livable called Dhaka.

Do you want me to post data about your population living in slums from world bank again ?

First thing to come in mind of any indian reading this is ......... hope they are going back.

There is absolutely no reason any upper-class or even middle-class Bangladesh person would want to live in India.

There is no commonality of language, religion, of culture, of food, of anything. Besides they love where they grew up. Unless they are being persecuted, which is rarely the case, even if you are a Bangladeshi Hindu.

Why would someone even WANT to settle in a country which is to most of them, an alien sub-par situation, filled with large numbers of Kanjoos/rude/uneducated folks and offers a living condition not any better, much less economic opportunity or even a future?

Most educated Bangladeshis don't even need to go to the US or Australia anymore. India is a far cry...

Try to visit Bangladesh sometime....

I think most Indians are actually being a bit self-congratulatory about this. The way most Indians treat Bongs is warning enough.

Believe me - a lot of Bangladeshis go to visit India, sometimes for a change of pace, or because of cheaper and reasonable medical care, hotels etc. Staying there would be the last thing on most every Bangladeshi's mind.

They have their jobs, careers and life in Bangladesh to get back to....

It's getting tiring to counter all this Sanghi propaganda about how Bangladeshis want to settle in the land of milk and honey.....

WTF are you smoking these days ?

True, India being the only effective neighbor of BD, people don't have much choice. Most of the Bangladeshi youth who go to India do so to get the thrill of visiting a foreign country. It is not like they go there because they find India something like an attractive place. Another factor is, most of trade transaction, border crossing of goods with India, more than 10 billion(official and unofficial) are done by the Bangladeshi businessmen. I have read a news article that, all those Indian cloths coming into Bangladesh, are owned by Bangladeshi businessmen who have clothing store both in Kolkata and BD.They are doing business in both countries and supplying Indian cloths in Bangladeshi market from their own store in Kolkata.Same is true for many other sectors. So, a lot of Bangladeshi businessmen has to back and forth between BD and India.Another factor is lack of patient-doctor understanding and trust in Bangladesh which is driving a lot of patient not only in India, but also in Thailand, Singapore or USA.

Well India gets foreign exchange and employment generation, bengalis don't spend as much as Americans or British

They are welcome. Never really saw anyone cause trouble around here.
never heard any problem ever reported from bd tourists... they come legally and leave after shopping.. or treatment or sightseeing.
I think we should encourage more bd people to come.
I heard some bd tourists face issues in getting hotel rooms, this should be looked into by govt.
@BDforever can share more info regarding how bdians are treated...

may be... but still they come in big number and help business... they are zero security risk, understand our culture and tradition... pretty much ideal tourist.

You are missing the fact that India is pretty liberal in giving visa to bangladeshis, compared to other countries.. this is in spite of all anti-bdian rhetoric in India.. and anti-india feeling in bd...
which means there is no excuse to cross the border illegally and risk getting shot.
However both govt should give some sort of ID card to land owners on both sides near border, who might need to cross it many times.
