That's generalizing a bit if you don't mind me saying so. Can't really generalize that the people from a whole region is less than good-looking or otherwise. And I'm not even Sylheti myself either when I say this.

When people improve their living conditions and income - they get polished and more presentable. Happens all the time - everywhere.

No need to judge or look down on anybody for superficial 'looks'.

While we are on the subject of product placements, How about a 'Tibet Cosmetics' ad with Anika Kabir (Shokh) in it (She became a brand girl for Tibet 'snow' and talcum powder)....the irony however is that this is one of the lowest-priced cosmetics products but the targeting of the ads belies it (Tibet targets what would amount to quite low income women)....Tibet brand has been sold since the 1950's by Kohinoor Chemicals. Still sold to this day.
