Are you guyz kidding wid us ?

Members of the Hindu community in Bangladesh have sent a letter to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu urging him to establish a strong relationship with Bangladeshi Hindus.

At a time when countries in the Middle East are looking to open new diplomatic avenues with Israel, sources in Bangladesh revealed that a petition was sent to the Israeli prime minister through Mendi Safadi, a former aide to a Druze Likud deputy cabinet minister and who was accused last year by authorities in Bangladesh of being a Mossad agent.

In the letter, which appears to take advantage of last week’s visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, himself a Hindu nationalist, the head of a Hindu activists group (Hindu Struggle Committee), Shipan Kumer Basu, appealed to Netanyahu to support their anti-discrimination campaign against the ruling Awami League Party.

Accusing the Bangladeshi prime minster of giving “ISIS [Daesh] a stronghold in Bangladesh”, he demanded that Bangladesh apologise to Israel for cutting diplomatic ties since its formation especially as Israel was “very helpful” to the Bangladeshi people.

Writing in the Times of Bengal, Basu made a request to US President Donald Trump and Netanyahu to keep the struggle of Bangladeshi Hindus “in mind”.

Basu professed gratitude to Safadi for initiating “an international campaign” against oppression of minorities in Bangladesh.

Commenting yesterday about the persecution of the Jewish people which he claims made them acutely aware of the suffering of others he wrote: “Israel has a history of helping people who are in distress throughout the world. Israel is a country full of talent and has vast expertise.”

Basu called on the Israeli prime minister to “empower” the minorities in Bangladesh believing that it could “open up channels with Israel and establish full diplomatic ties”.

why shouldn't they? you can condemn illegal settlement and recognize that a state exists in that region

Nope. Your country doesn't even recognise Taiwan as a separate country to China.

And why should bd? Israel is small, there's not much benefit for BD but would create a lot of disruption in the country. Why break stability of BD for developing an insignificant relation. And why does Israel care anyway? BD's economy is smaller with many times the population. No need for any relation with Israel and should not recognise them as a country.

While you are at it, stop fuelling the hatred among BD people instead of recognising Jerusalem as part of Israel. No way Bangladeshis will have anything but negative view of Israel after the Jerusalem fiasco. Recognising Israel now would be political suicide.

BD should have recognised Israel when it had the chance in the early 70's when Israel recognised BD as a country. But the way Israel kept eating up Palestine and the latest debacle turned the issue into non-debatable of not recognising it as a country. It's would be downright suicide to do that for any political party.

1. If you establish relations with Israel, it would be BD that would develop with their help rather than vice versa and you could really use their help in agricultural tech just like India.
2. China is occupying Taiwan and you don't recognise Taiwan, but in the case of Israel and Palestine, you recognise Palestine. (Hypocrisy and double standards)
3. Israel never did anything wrong with BD, instead may could have helped India during 1971 which in turn supported Bengalis, mukti bahini and fought alongside them. How has Israel harmed BD?
4. If to above question you answer that Palestinians are muslims and they are killing them, then sir my honest suggestion for you is to shed this mentality and look towards developing your nation and take jump at every opportunity you can see and Israel is one big such opportunity. Even the arab countries that fought wars against Israel are establishing relations with them, follow their path in this case and you would benefit.
Talking about muslim brotherhood is alright, but acting upon it at the cost of your interests is simply suicide. When has arab countries or other Islamic nations come to your aid? Did they supported you during the recent Rohingya issue? Its all national interest.
If you choose to discuss, please do so in respectful words. Peace. :)

They are trying to create unrest in bangladesh. However if you are a Zionist lover just be friends with them. Don't judge others .

We have no problem with Jewish folks . However Israel is basically a secular Zionist country that was established by bloodshed of Palestine.
Sorry to say , your country ( Zionist Israel) is just a terrorist and murderer country.
Those zionist murderers should be punished like Nazi murderers, as there is no difference between them .
So no bilateral relationship with Zionist and Nazi, thank you .

That's not your business. You can think about your own country.

Before ranting study some history. The land of Palestine ( including Israel ) belongs to muslims.
It was zionist hypocrites annexed this land, so there is no comparison.
After second world world Ashkenazi Jews started their settlement and then zionists capture Palestine in order to create their ( zionist) bastard child named Israel.
Israel isn't a coutry ,it is just a sign of disgrace and a poisonous wound of this world .
Before Israel was established Muslims and Jewish folks lived in muslim countries in peace .
Zionist ( who are mostly fanatic christians) imposed Israel in order create chaos between Muslim and Jews .
However your 3 and 4 points are either the propaganda of R&AW in order to create flame in this thread.

Eh, might as well. The Israelis pretty much won the whole fiasco anyway.

And the Gulf Arabs are more scared of Iran than them anyway.

Hypocrisy in recognising Palestine? Palestine was always there, it's the Israel that was given by the west on Palestine land. You are making it seem like both of them has same legitimacy.

And @1, exactly what I said about them having bigger economy, Israel has nothing to gain, so Israel can **** off. BD does not need their 'farming tech' by causing instability in it's own country.

I personally don't have any 'muslim sentiment' because I am an atheist. What I do care more than anything for my country is stability. Stable country with stable growth. And BD being a muslim majority country while Israel recently given the whole Jerusalem with the islamic landmark or whatever, just created more hatred towards Israel. It's better for BD to stay the **** away from Middle East and no need to recognise Israel and create instability for LITERALLY insignificant prospect of gain. What is significant for BD or Israel to gain by developing diplomatic relationship? NONE! Israel has insignificant population, rendering much usefulness for BD and BD has smaller economy than them, rendering BD very less useful for Israel.

The current diplomatic relation (which is none) should stay that way with Israel.

It is true that Israel will be able help Bangladesh with technological aid...but right now most of the countries Bangladesh has relations with are enough to full Bangladesh's technological demands. Considering the potential reaction of the masses establishment of relation with Israel will be really costly and the benefits don't outweigh them. Maybe in the future if things cool down between them and the Palestinians...bu we could start some sort of trade with them(I think we already have).

I understand what u are saying. But I do not believe that things will cool down between Israelis and Palestinians. the only solution is to accept the current situation and stop with the violence on both sides. But whenever, not today or tomorrow, the need arises and outlook oof bd ppl has calmed (it wont happen itself, is the job of govt.) in future, IMO Bangladesh should go ahead and establish ties with Israel regardless of Palestine issues, much like us managing ties with both Israel and Palestine.

seems like the days are not far then

politicians can make a look of bucks and israel will give the best package

Israel isn't "eating up Palestine". Indeed, since the Oslo Accords Palestinian Arabs exercise far more self-rule than they did when Israel recognized Bangladesh in 1971; they've just used it poorly, enriching a small leadership, restricting freedoms, collapsing services, and defying solemn pledges in favor of their death-to-Israel narrative.

As for "downright suicide": I don't doubt that recognizing Israel is an exercise in courage in Bangladesh or Pakistan. Does that mean it shouldn't be done? What stronger stance against terrorism and religious militancy is there?

That said, what exactly does this Basu fellow expect Israel to do?
