Mr Khan..I think you have replied in an excellent way to this topic...The strange part is that although most of the Indian people after so much of provocation dont find any reason to hate BD people, still then BD friends always try to showcase the downside of the India. They have so much of distrust that sometimes i feel strange about their behavior......

Coming to the point, bringing GAS deal to BD is not something that India is asking for..rather it is BD gov is asking for it...and if you BD friends have so much of problem with your GOV then take the necessary action rather than shouting for everything against India..

Do you have any clue what so ever why this fantasy of regional energy grid has been floated? Because, india is cut in the west by Pakistan from Iran and central Asia and in east by Bangladesh from Myanmar gas sources. Bilateral effort by india to try transit has limited traction (at least through Pakistan). india feel it can get access to these energy source by hiding its wish under the guise of “regional energy grid. India has enough demand for these gas supplies and even if central Asian gas reach Bangladesh india will make sure it cost so much that it’s not worth buying.

At the same token, when Bangladesh had been asking to have regional water reservoir with Nepal and india, india outright rejected. Because, india do not want Bangladesh to access any water from Nepal and suffer.
You should understand what india is and what india stand for before falling for any such gimmick floated by Awami stooge regime.

I understand the dislike of the current AL government, but don't you are being a bit too paranoid? I am not sure if this gas network is feasible for Bangladesh, but we can analyze the option. The pricing mechanism needs to be very clear, fair and feasible.

Bangladesh desperately needs energy, regardless. As far as nuclear energy goes, I don't think Russia would allow it, seeing from the current state of affairs in Bangladesh (Bangladesh has signed an MoU with Russia).

Other renewable energy sources are optional, such as biomass, solar, wind, and hydro. But Bangladesh lacks research and investment in that field. Let alone commitment from top levels of the country.

The access of energy option cannot be denied under the circumstances if Bangladeshi economy is to grow smoothly.

There are a series of impending issues between India and Bangladesh. Many Bangladeshis just don't like the current AL government, especially in respect to diplomacy with India. Especially over the issue of the transit. The current Foreign Minister is a pretty fail one ><

we need gas our own reserve is going to finish within 2020/2015 if we cannot extract gas from sea then we will be in deep trouble so we need to get some other source . it will be very lengthly precess to get gas from pak- india- afgan pipe line yet its a good thinking by our govt.

Paranoid? far from it. In fact, other than surface view you obviously have no clue what I have stated. Do you really think Bangladesh will get gas from Iran or central asia through india? From strategic and deman/supply standpoint there is no scope for getting gas through this so called gas grid. Do a little bit of research on gas price and then add transit fee, pipeline cost etc. Then come back and talk about the price.

Rather than wasting time on something india wants Bangladesh to engage in just so we are distracted, sooner Bangladesh get close to reality and explore realistic options better Bangladesh would be. Realistic option would be getting gas from Myanmar, given political willingness is there and boundary dispute subsided. But offcource india also contending for same gas from Myanmar. And if Bangladesh get distracted in some unrealistic plan india has hatched, its an easy ride for india to take Myanmar gas.

Then comes LNG option; for that private sector has made some move and could be useful for many types of use in Bangladesh.

There is no alternative to give BAPEX more money and resource so more discoveries can be made.

For home use there is no alternative but using solar energy.

We have vast reserve of coal, more local and high quality coal should be used for power generation as alternative to gas than imported low quality coal.

For nuclear power, if Awami reagime followed through what BNP had agreement with China we would seen some meaningful progress by now.

About Awami Regime
------------------
Can you blame anyone who care about Bangladesh for detesting Awami stooge regime?

Here Awami regime giving tax holiday to its party man for not delivering power plant it promised in time.

Change in tax-holiday arrangement for private power generation cos
Change in tax-holiday arrangement for private power generation cos

Here Awami regime gave indian company sovereignty over any Bangladeshi jurisdiction; as if mini india inside Bangladesh will be created.
Daily Amardesh -????, ???????? ?? ????? ????, ?? ?????? ????, ?? ????? ????

These are just two latest examples...

DONT lecuter others if you dont know what is going on or can not handle the truth.

Going through your previous posts, I do admire your optimism for this current regime and how you always try to look at it objectively.
I do agree with you that some Bangladeshis go a bit overboard with the paranoia, and it is also equally true that India has used the 1971 card a bit too much for meeting their political ends. I think we have formed our brand of what I called "extremists", or prejudiced mindsets. Their political opinion or bias ness is the main base of any issue, which I think has grave consequences. I think we need more politics based on actual, economic issues rather than 1971, Bangabandhu and war criminals.
The current relationship between India and Bangladesh is favourable, but not definite. We should not make any presumption that it will remain this in way in the near future and sign any deals with them. PM Manmahons remark about jamaat was a wake up call for all of us, that Awami regime is not forever and any deal should be reconsidered before finalising. I don't think policies and deals where we have to rely heavily on India is a very good idea as it gives them more bargaining power in future dispute.

it will be good for your health to stop mentioning India in each and every post of yours !! why you guys think of India 24x7 on this forum..don't you have any other thing to discuss?? even if the topic is not about India..you guys have habit of bringing your father India on it..just get over us..we don't care what the hell happens to you and your economy..just reciprocate in the same way

I think India is Grand Father, considering Pakistan is father of Bangladesh.

Here is the financial problem for you all... Who will pay for the gas running through the pipe line, after it is built.............

For example, the Gas runs thru Afganistan, then the price changes because Afganistan adds it's margin to Pakistan and so on and so on....

@Zabanya: I agree with you...every bilateral relationship is having some issues or the other....If you guys think that AL league is making wrong decisions then of course it is not India that needs to be blamed, rather BD people should introspect more about it....For India...it will like a business deal....If the deal is suitable for her then India will go for it or else they will not go for it....Sometime i feel AL gov is doing more harm to India BD relation than the BNP gov...The reason is that every move of the GOV is not based on the sensible public mood that in turn is impacting Indian relation with BD also...
