Dhaka always in favour of peaceful coexistence among neighbours

Bangladesh wants China and India to de-escalate the situation along the Ladakh border immediately.

"Our position is always clear. We want peace, not conflict. Both China and India are our friends," Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen told Dhaka Tribune on Wednesday night.

"We do hope both China and India will de-escalate the situation immediately and resolve all issues through negotiations," he said.

“We believe in peaceful coexistence among neighbours in the interest of development," he added.

At least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in a clash with Chinese forces in a disputed border area in Ladakh on Tuesday. There has been no word from Beijing about Chinese casualties.

. . . . .
Bangladesh is the main beneficiary in all this. China has removed tariffs on their products. Why should they want this to end ? With India out of question, all the China requirements are going to b met by Bangladesh.

.
Ironic considering that if China cut off chicken's neck from Arunachal Pradesh, it would create a giant new independent Bengal state of which Bangladesh would be the biggest beneficiary.

Isn't it in the interest of Bangladesh to escalate the situation? They could try to pressure India like Nepal to extract some concessions while India is being squeezed from all sides.

.
They are trying to be neutral as they can see fire coming their way as they have to refuse at least one of them in the end. That would be so difficult.

. . .
He needed some TV footage to feel relevant.
Bangladesh didn’t need to make any official statement on the issue at all. This guy is a fokirni
He can blow it off as no comment

I don't understand why this bumbler gets to head the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and make a fool of himself and the country, when we have two more capable gentlemen in the same ministry.

Speaking of deputy minister of foreign relations Shariar Alam, he is very intelligent, sharp and very much capable of handling himself in front of the media.

Second option is ex - Foreign Secretary and career diplomat Shahidul Haque, a well spoken civil servant who isn't involved in politics whatsoever and seeks to serve his country.

Point is, I would like to see anyone but Mr. Momen here, he is just a disappointment and every time he speaks, all 160 Million of us cringe and embarrassed on his behalf.

Shahriar Alam is a good lad, probably didn’t have enough vouch for him in the party

. .
Abdul Momen got the top job due to his relation to ex - Finance Minister Abdul Momen, God do I miss Mr. Mal and his sharp retorts, man was a excellent economists.
Gandu wanted the everyone to pay tax except the MPs
I didn’t see him requesting amendments to ershad era laws that levied tax off MPs for things like buying luxury items and cars

All statements by Foreign Minister on foreign affairs automatically become official statements unless Government issues a statement rejecting that.
