IMF is based in Washington DC. USA will extract geopolitical terms from anyone that wants IMF money. Presently the dollar has been weaponized. The IMF is not a political entity. It does not demand something that is not included in its fundamental Charter.
What is Russia's military performance in Ukraine? Could you please elaborate?Good call, especially after seeing Russia's military performance in Ukraine.
Right move at the UN. It was not anything at all to do with US or IMF.... many countries that previously abstained voted yes this time like iran, thailand and iraq.
At the end of the day democracies will stand together against autocratic despots. Russia does have cause but have gone about it the wrong way.
For BD russia is not worth too much hasstle. They support burma well we abstained last time but they are not worth going the distance over.
Their invasion had quite a few failures. Pretty sad for what's apparently the 2nd strongest military in the world. What is Russia's military performance in Ukraine? Could you please elaborate?
Like many international organs/ institutions in civilized Western countries, the IMF is run by its own rules. It is not part of the US political system, completely sovereign and therefore the US administration does not sell its foreign policies by using the IMF.IMF is based in Washington DC. IMF supports the global dollar based exchange regime. Did the IMF swoop in and help Cuba after the collapse of the USSR? Iraq after GW1? IMF's biggest loans historically have gone to help developed pro-USA regimes....Poland, S Korea...... not poor developing countries like it shows on its home page. You fall for the illusion. In the near future Bangladesh or Pakistan would get max a few billion from IMF........UK will get 250 billion.Like many international organs/ institutions in civilized Western countries, the IMF is run by its own rules. By the way, does the US State Department need IMF to pursue its policy? One small word from a policy-making body there is enough.
IMF does not financially support North Korea and other rogue regimes. But, it is its policy from the very beginning. But, you are implying Bilken calls IMF and shouts orders all the time to implement US policies at hand.IMF supports the global dollar based exchange regime. Who declares them rogue regimes? You make my point.IMF does not financially support North Korea and other rogue regimes. But, it is its policy from the very beginning. But, you are implying Bilken calls IMF and shouts orders all the time to implement US policies at hand.
I state only the facts and reality, and you state what your emotion says you to do, the surreal things.Who declares them rogue regimes? You make my point.
Today it's not the question if democracy is good or bad for Bangladesh.Right move at the UN. It was not anything at all to do with US or IMF.... many countries that previously abstained voted yes this time like iran, thailand and iraq.

Today it's not the question if democracy is good or bad for Bangladesh.
I would want to remind others that why did we declare independence from Pakistan?
Main reason is democracy! Mujib was rightful PM of Pakistan , but military establishment deprived Mujib and launched operation search light.
Nowadays BAL is doing the same thing.
Thankfully now there are good alternatives! Gano Odhikar Porishod and also BNP without Jamat e Islami.
If BNP is not with jamat , then we don't have any problem with BNP right?
Mirza Fakhrul Islam alamgir is doing very well.
If we make such system where no one can be PM/president for more than two term , then I think Mirza Fakhrul or Reza kibria or Mirza Fakhrul will do better job!
Later young people like Vp Nur or others will do fine for the position as well.
So yes now it's time to revive democracy , since we have alternatives.
Actually if N korea joins the IMF collective they will support them. Its a club that a country pay into join.Who declares them rogue regimes? You make my point.
Tbh , democracy has it's drawback in countries like Bangladesh , where most of people are ignorant and emotional!Whilst I am against Jamat democracy means accepting the will of the people. I am personally happy for BAL or Jamat or anyone else having power if they win election even though i can not stand either.
Tbh , democracy has it's drawback in countries like Bangladesh , where most of people are ignorant and emotional!
For a certain period of time , I found no alternative to sheikh Hasina , as there was none.
Nowadays I see that there are alternatives. Reza kibria is a highly educated man , and he has personality, who is now convenor of Gano Odhikar Porishod!
Vp Nur , Rashed , Tareq Rahman ( not Tareq chora of BNP , it's another Tareq Rahman) , Bin Yalin Molla, and few other other promising rising young leaders from Gano Odhikar Porishod!
We can count them as new era Sher e Bangla, Bhasani , Sohrawadi etc etc.
Simply if we need democracy we need in under military supervision for now.
Also if BNP and jamat alliance no longer alive , so there is no international pressure that can cripple Bangladeshi economy.
Tbh , brotherhood ideology isn't attractive for international community and if a huge party like BNP makes alliance with jamat type party that hold brotherhood ideology make permanent alliance only to defeat BAL , then thay can stay in power forever.
Look at 2001 election. BAL got only 62 seats, but 40.2% vote ( more than BNP) , because at least in 70/80 constituencies BNP vote was backed by jamat.
So such alliance actually means autocracy under the coat of democracy and it's actually similar to current BAL regime , if not worse.
So now BNP and jamat alliance are broken, but if there is another fair election now , BNP will win against BAL.
But the problem is leadership. If we want to get real democracy and get freedom from family dynasty ( which actually sort of absolute monarchy) , then we need third mighty power .
And I believe Gano Odhikar Porishod is the party.
If all party contest separately b( including jamat) still I think either BNP or Gano Odhikar Porishod will win the election. (BNP has better chance though, as they are old party!)
Don't forget PTI formed govt very fast in Pakistan.
So yes when we see Gano Odhikar Porishod is on rise , and BNP and jamat will contest separately ( still BNP will do much better than BAL, who's popularity is fast declining because of their autocracy nature) , so why not we demand for a fair election? Of course we do.
After all we didn't lease our country to BAL family!
So yes for Gano Odhikar Porishod and jamat free BNP we must give a try.
But indeed under a non partisan govt and not now.
A military supervised technocrat govt will run country for more or less 3/4 years , will remove BAL lackeys from important positions , only then we can have a free and fair election , otherwise it's impossible!
So yes if people of Bangladesh then again elect sheikh Hasina or any other BAL candidate , that's fine , they can rule another 5 years and later again free and fair election under non partisan govt and this process must be ongoing for future.
But why there is fear of an election? If you are so popular among Bangladeshi, why do they fear election? They should try.
Here few users were lamenting shamelessly in another thread , that when Hasina retire, Bangladesh will return to dark age , as if Hasina is a demigod like Krishna of Hinduism and after her time pass , the dark age aka Kaliyuga will be established in Bangladesh!
What kind of cult like mentality is this by BAL lackeys I am unable to understand!
